Guns and Roses - Use Your Illusion Tour .

Maine Road June 1992. The first gig was cancelled the week before due to the fact that Axel Rose was exhausted. Played again a week later in baking sunshine, the crowd was up for it, with excellent support sets from Soundgarden and Faith No More. It all went horribly wrong after that. They came on two hours late, with no real excuse. The crowd turned on them and Rose had a hissy fit due to heckling and stuff getting thrown at him. He / they went through the motions and stormed off. Utter garbage .

Been to a few sadly.

But the worst was probably Red Hot Chillis in Hyde Park.

It wasn't them, it was the massive bellends in the crowd. Ruined it for everyone.

I saw Guns and Roses at Milton Keynes Bowl in May 1993, just fantastic, so feel sorry for the first poster. Have you read Mick Wall's very much unauthorised biography on Axl? If he wasn't in the mood, Axl would sit in his hotel room watching dvd's knowing that the gig should have started an hour ago. By that stage of the group, Axl would be in one hotel and the rest of the band in another, so they would turn up to the gig not knowing whether Axl would follow them!

Thanks mate, I,ll have a look at that book. What made things much worse was that once the band were supposed to come on they shut all the bars. Everyone was well tanked due to the weather and due to the two hour delay people started to sober up and became really ratty !

I was at that and agree Axl was a proper diva that day though FNM and soundgarden were excellent

I saw klaxons over smashing pumpkins and nin at reading in 2005 or something. Didn't care much at the time but stupid decision looking back on it.

Rhcp were there too, they were pretty back actually.

It's a great book, written about 10 years ago. Obvs, there is history between Wall and the band, get in the ring and all that. I think it is a very fair and sympathetic book. Axl's youthful love of the music of Queen, Freddie Mercury in particular, and Elton John came as a surprise to me!

Did a week in ***** **********'s horn line filling in for a mate. Still waiting for my money.

This was in 1983 mind you. I want my money, you crooked t**t. Didn't do your karma any good, did it?
