3 games to save his job IMO.

We lose to Newcastle and get knocked out the Europa I think the bullet will be fired.

...then one of the cone layers comes in...or big Stubbsy.

Welcome to summer 2013.

Hoooooooooof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Former Everton and Arsenal defender Martin Keown has said that Roberto Martinez has started to look lost in some of his post-match interviews.

The TV pundit added that the Spaniard could perhaps do with someone in his backroom with experience of working in management at a big club like Everton, which he is currently lacking.

“Martinez is starting to look a bit lost in some of his post-match interviews,” said Keown.

“He seems to be more focused on games coming up rather than the games he’s just had. I don’t know if Martinez would benefit from some more experience on his staff or those who more used to working at a bigger club, because Everton are huge.

“Their run of form is very concerning. Martinez is obviously a very creative manager and loves to play an attacking team, but at the moment they need to scrap and learn to pick up points where they can.”

Thanks Martin. You can get back on the monkey bars now.

Yes, you argue your point mate, and well to a degree, and as I've said, some of it I totally get. But you jump, and criticise when one view happens to oppose your own...

'Laughable caricature'. Pfffff, get me, I've achieved, ta muchly. Rich though, coming from a seemingly a chronic onanist who's blinded by the hope that we have a great manager for whom everything is currently as he wishes and working out jussssst groovy. It isn't. What are you seeing that others aren't? You're using the argument that he's mixed it all up already. Stunning. What's it achieved then? Thus it's a player issue? So why's that?

I asked you, the 3 games down the line scenario, what if? Really, what if?

And please don't suggest you're unwilling to answer a 'what if' because your ENTIRE argument is based on the same.

Oh, and respectfully, I used the phrase self-importance as you keep referencing how much you're looking forward to being 'proved right' etc after the NU game? Y'know, when we crawl back under stones etc. Back-slapping, self-importance, it runs on...

BTW, the KOPITE behaviour thing....an example of which, in my experience, is their ability to defend the undefensable. Which is EXACTLY what you're doing, as you yourself have said I believe, facts/figures etc...

That said, it's Friday, go have a Gin while I telephone some old media chums to explain the essence of being 'blinkered' to me.

Chin-chin.;)
You ask me what mixing it all up has achieved...when you're the one advocating it!! Dear me.

Three games down the line and we have 1 point extra? That's not even worth asking in this climate. He'd be fired I suppose. Should he be at that point? Well that would depend on whether we have a gap that's non-existent anymore. I've stated since this madness took hold that what happens below us is as important as what we do in respect of safety. I'll stick to that. We have 6 home games left...10 in all. You need to show some faith that the probably 8 points we'll need will easily be achieved...even the last 10 coughed up 7. As appalling as that is, that added to the 6 we have in hand over the bottom three would be enough to hold them off...and that is worse case scenario.

As for defending the indefensible and my Kopite behaviour thereby: I'm stepping back and calmly viewing the likely conclusion to all this. I'm astounded you believe I'm the one with the fanciful and wild analysis when there's a load on here screaming that their hair is on fire at each result.[/QUOTE

Nor is basing the idea that all is fine over a potential NEWCASTLE victory. (or any victory come to that)

You ask me what mixing it all up has achieved...when you're the one advocating it!! Dear me.

And therein lies the problem then because if - as you say - he HAS mixed it up already and that hasn't worked either then, clearly, he's run out of ideas, yes? Are you really lauding a couple of minor formation alterations as him being savvy & full of acumen, worse still 'onto' the problem and addressing it such?

The format and, dare I say it, SYSTEM, needs total review & overhaul, you curious orange, you...

there's a load on here screaming that their hair is on fire at each result

That made me laugh. Which is good, under the circs...

...another win should be sufficient plus a few draws.

I dont want too many wins thoiugh. What would we all do without the kneejerkers to keep us entertained?

Its over to your man now David, his fate rests in his own hands, if hes willing to listen to a better tactical mind, me and plays with a balanced side and changes the stale zombie tiki taka, he has a chance, lets hope he FINALLY realises where hes going wrong.

Moyes' 11 seasons in charge dont add up to the 2 Martinez has had so far.

For the first time in a generation we saw football being played by Everton, and not the mostly boot and run trash Moyes conned everyone into thinking was right for us.

Martinez proved beyond doubt that if you play football with pace and precision on the deck you can do better. And the record points haul is there for all to see as proof.

It's been bugging me for a while why 1 poster has been so aggressive in shooting down everyone who appears to be anti Martinez, relentlessly going round this forum attacking anybody expressing doubts or concerns about Martinez.

How could anyone be so pro Martinez in the current situation, it just didn't make sense. Plenty of people still have belief and back the manager, thats fine. But they don't do so with a delusional belief in "plotters".

And that post (and a few others i can't be bothered to find) reveal it : It's all about the type of football he deems that Moyes played, and the type of football he deems Martinez plays.

It's been discussed to death on here the comparisons between the style of the 2 managers. I think it's fair to say Moyes played some good stuff, and some bad stuff, annoyingly reverting back to the latter when he had the players to play the former.

But regardless of what you thought of his style, he done pretty well with it all things considered. But his time was up here and we needed someone new in. Step forward Martinez.

And bring on the belief that he plays a type of football deemed suitable for Everton Football Club, that we are the school of science and Martinez plays that way whereas Moyes didn't.

All very well and good, last season it was perfectly acceptable to sing the praises of Martinez's style of football. It was working.

This season it isn't. Because we're not playing well, and more imprtantly we're not picking up the points that our squad should be.

Professional football is about winning things, it's about doing whatever it takes to win points and win games. It's not about "playing the right way". You might prefer to do both but ultimately you need to do the former, even if it means not doing the latter.

And most people can see that. Most people would want good entertaining football and successful football. But they would prioritise looking ugly and winning games over looking good and losing.

As would any sensible fan. Apart from one who is obsessed with the style of football above everything else. Obsessed with thinking that Martinez plays the right type of football for Everton, and that Moyes didn't.

One who backed Martinez because of that style of play and refuses to back down because that would be like admitting his style isn't appearing to be the right type for Everton. Because we suck right now. One who knows things aren't working but cannot admit to themselves (and the rest of the forum) that it isn't right for Everton, that Martinez's style of play isn't School of Science, it's school of slow arse crap.

Image over results. Style over results. Reputation over results. Belief that Martinez is right and everyone else is wrong.

Sure, there is criticism about Martinez in other areas (like transfers). But he could have us playing his way in the Championship and his "philosophee" would still be defended as more fitting for Everton that Moyes "agricultural football".
