can't see burnley or villa either. Burnley's next 5 games are against RS, City, Soton, Spurs, Arsenal. Villa's run in isn't as difficult but they're in even worse form then we are, they've lost 7 straight. I totally agree we've been crap this season, just for me there are teams who have been even more crap. This is a failure of a season unless we somehow manage to win EL which would average out the awful league form. 2 wins in 15 is atrocious and we should be better than that. Just because I can't see us going down doesn't mean I think things are okay.

Villa, Burnley, QPR, sunderland. All proverbial 6 pointers. Win all 4 no problems. Lose any of them and it becomes a problem in relation to the team we lose against. My worries are that Burnley and sunderland are good enough to park the bus like so many else have and leave with a low scoring draw whole we go to QPR after a long trip to kyiv a few days before. So I've got those 3 down as draws plus villa away as a draw.

that's the thing though mate. Even if we drew Burnely I can't see them picking up points vs RS,City,Arsenal,Soton, and spurs before hand. maybe nick a draw or two. like I've said before this isn't me thinking we'll be boss and string off wins, just that the teams below us like burnley and villa won't get enough points to catch us over the course of the rest of the season

Leicester are not going to be overtaking us. If they do then we're already down.

Burnley will need a mammoth effort to get to even 35 points since they still have to play City, Spurs, Arsenal, the RS, and Southampton.

So, it boils down to whether we can maintain some of our current points cushion against any one of Villa, QPR, Hull or Sunderland.

Of that lot, Villa and Sunderland have the easiest remaining home fixtures but Villa have 4 of their remaining 5 away games against teams currently in the top 6. You'd expect Sunderland to just do enough to stay above Villa.

QPR have 4 London derbies in their last 6 home games -- and every away game is tough for them!

Hull have the toughest set of remaining fixtures. They have to play 4 home games and 4 away games against the current top 6.

And us? Certainly our remaining away games, after today, look relatively winnable. Our home games also, in a normal season, look relatively comfortable. BUT, we all know how badly we are performing and if we get a total of 8 or 9 points out of what's left home and away then that would be par for the course. Would 36/37 points be enough though?

Although like many others I'm still very worried about the situation, particularly if we lose the next two, looking at things objectively the sound money would be on 3 out of the current bottom 5 to end up with fewer points than this.
I just cant get my head around this season, if someone had of told me this time last year that we'd seriously be contemplating relegation I would have said they were mad.
Odder than that is that there are posters on here saying we're mad to be contemplating it even now!

One thing is for sure there'll be a few freaky results between bottom and top teams before the end of the season. Burnley are no mugs. Look what they did at Chelsea. They play without. Fear.

true you can't really predict things in sports. Which is why everyone should stop stressing over relegation, people say we can't predict other teams results but go on to predict our own.

We need to beat NEW, QPR, BUR, SUN to survive. A draw at Stk would be nice- as well as a tie to Spurs. For some strange reason I see us beating Man U and WHU we'll step it up for them.
I fear our unbelievable run of luck at West Ham has now come to an end with the FAC defeat there. So don't count on anything there.

And City. I've even read posts on here saying Burnley will park the bus at GP -- nothing could be further from the truth. They'll take us on and will undoubtedly score goals against us.

That will be hard just like WBA, Hull and Leicester was. In reality we need Liverpool to beat Burnley on Wednesday, sad times when we need them to beat teams to help us stay clear of the drop zone.

How do people see are squad next season? Being realistic I see us finishing around a position were currently at, improvement I think would see up to 11th-12th at best. Those kind of positions surely raise alarm bells for players in the squad ... But also, the money we will have lost from last seasons finish in comparison to were we finish this season. Thoughts??

Depends who the manager is, if its the same idiot i cant see us being any better than we have been this season. What worries me is also the players, cant blame any of our better players if they want to throw their hands in during the summer and move off.

It's also who he brings in to replace those players who go. Thinking about it, how many players would want to sign for Everton and play under Martinez??? At present....
