It'd be far easier for people tormented with having Martinez in charge (you remember him, the feller who tore up Everton's PL points record at the first time of asking) to simply accept that we have a manager on a long contract and who's as safe as houses.

It's painful reading this stuff now. First it's 'sack him now, he has to go'. Now it's 'let's part company with him in the summer'.

Tilting at windmills. There is no dragon to be slain. All the vast majority see (including the board) is a manager in his second season struggling to get a team to perform to anything like the level of last season.

We're 12th with the biggest load of horse droppings below us who couldn't buy their way out of the drop zone; apart from Arsenal away early next month every fixture looks like it'll bear points for us; we're in all likelihood going to finish on about 50 points slap bang in the middle of the table or maybe just top half.

It's just a meh season. No need for all the dramatic ultimatums...that hasn't been a need for it all season, and there certainly is no need for it now.
23 pts from the last 13 -- no chance.

What were they saying? I try to avoid TalkSport so would be interesting to hear these thoughts. By the way I wasn't saying Andy Fray would be my first choice. Was saying if we wanting an Evertonian then hes a better shout than Royle and Ferguson.

Then again this site seems to think Martinez is the bees knees. So Anyone suggesting a replacement is pronounced insane!

Had you even heard of him 12 months ago?

And are you serious?
Why not Andy?

He always spoke a lot of sense and lets be honest we don't have too many ex-Everton greats to realistically choose from. His team where a whisker away from winning a European treble.

Had the misfortune to hear him and Keys on Talksport recently. Like listening to two 1980's throwbacks.
I still think Sky Sports was far better with him commentating. I like Neville but Gray's commentary adding to the passion and the excitement. With him commentating you almost felt like you where in the ground plus lets not forget he pioneered all the tactical analysis that Neville uses.

Wouldnt say any of that is true. You rate Andy Gray cos he played for Everton. I dont cos I think he has zippo experience, zippo coaching record, and in all probability, zippo experience of modern football outside of the PL.

we are the most boring side to watch in the league

its not even effective like stoke use to be

the fact stoke are far more entertaining to watch than us tells you what martinez has done to our club

Shopuld we sell Barkley? After all he's had a terrible season despite looking great last season. He's a young player still learning the ropes but with great potential, thats why we hang on to him. Same goes for Martinez.
What price would he go for today? Would any team even bid 20m for him at this stage. The reports are that Wilshire might be going to the RS for 25m - He's only a couple of years older than Ross and far more effective at the moment.

That's the reason why we won't be selling him. It's a non-issue until he starts playing better. Ultimately Martinez is right when he said last season that the fact that the papers are talking about all of his players is a good thing because it shows they're doing well.

Roydo as I said I wouldn't personally appoint Andy Gray because I don't think appointing an Evertonian is the way forward. Just think if that was the criteria then Andy Gray would be the best shout. Certainly better than Joe Royle who still has fans now even though in my opinion his tenure at Everton was hugely overrated (not withstanding the rescue act he achieved first season)

De Boer from Ajax would be my choice though I have no idea if he'd entertain the thought of joining Everton. As for Martinez I like his vision long-term of Everton (producing youth etc) but you can't ignore his very poor tactics and limitations which have come to the fore this season.
