Lets take West Ham as an example, From the start of the season to the end of November they had played 14 games

In the same period we had played 19 games, That's 5 more and you have to take in to account the amount of traveling to the likes of Russia

Are you suggesting playing 5 more games, Traveling across Europe and having to play Thursday/Sunday doesn't have an effect on a squad of our size?
Fair enough, i was taking it until this point. Its just a baffling second season honestly.

This for me, if you take the recent results in isolation. West Brom - okay that's disappointing, but we played well and created plenty of chances. Palace - great result at a tough away ground, stopped a winning run, were unlucky not to score more than 1. Liverpool - given our recent derby results, not the worst thing in the world to share points for both games, we stopped their winning run, and we nearly won it late ourselves. Chelsea - we lost from a spectacular late goal at the bridge, created at least 2 fantastic goal scoring opportunities, what were we expecting out of it?

When you look at the run as X wins in Y games, it gives one impression, but if you dig deeper and look at the games in isolation instead of just the general trend, there's been a clear shift both in our approach and our performances somewhere around the West Ham FA Cup game. We've significantly improved our performances compared to how we played against Hull, results don't tell the whole story.

It was the lack of attacking balance which i thought was a problem in these tight games, alot of the changes in these games were like for like or completely baffling. That is a weakness of martinez this season and is why i mentioned it, the tension and maybe amger to some degree was evident in them games. We could see we werent going to win them with our pass-pass-pass slowly system.

I think Martinez deserves another season, he can be judged properly on how we do next season, last year was glorious, 72 points will probably get 3rd this year. This season has seen a serious of error's made by Martinez looking in from the outside. Aside from all the injuries and bad refereeing decisions we have been bang average.

Most worrying for me is how the senior player's seem to have an influence on his team selection, nobody put a gun to Bobby's head and said he had to give Howard,Hibbert, Distin and Osman new contract's.

Also:

Playing Ross Barkley on the wing??
Playing Naismith on the wing??
Playing Aiden McGeady??
Taking Besic off in nearly every game??
Luke Garbutt situation??
Mirallas Penalty situation??
Dropping Robles for Howard??
Not dropping Howard for Robles??
Phil Jagielka as captain??
Defensive record??
Where are all the "PHENOMENAL" youth team player's??
Buying poorly??
Not selling players when perhaps it would have been for the best in the long term??

People have a right to question Martinez because in my opinion he has made a lot of mistakes, it has nothing to do with second season syndrome. This summer will be huge for him.

I suppose its only fair to give him time and therefore another year. A lot of work will need to be done in the summer. He has a very difficult job in the fact that he has to try to bring the club forward on limited funds against big spending competition. I personally believe last year was our opportunity that we didn't grasp for champs league. It will be interesting to see if Southampton take theirs although I feel it will be extremely difficult for them too.

The summer transfer market will be make or break for him. The current squad no matter how much we would like to believe is not strong enough to challenge for top 4. We would do very well making Europa for the 2016/2017 season. He will need to get rid of those he doesn't rate and those who are not towing the line. He will have to try to hang onto McCarty who despite being injured is one of if not the best midfielders in the league and Colman both of whom the vultures will be flying over. He will have to try and find players who can really improve the current first 11 on limited funds. All difficult tasks.

I have major doubts though with some of his decisions and comments though and I feel that we will be a mid table team for the next few years. He obviously rates players like (our scapegoats) Barry and Naismith and recently said Osman was pivotal to his ideal tactics. All can be decent on the odd day but Nowhere and I mean Nowhere near current champions league level. (last year doesn't count as too many teams like utd , spurs have improved already and will further do so during the summer). There fore if these players are going to be in his starting 11 we are a mid table side.

We currently have some players that could possibly be considered top 4 but only if the young ones fulfil and maintain potential and more experienced ones improve and maintain form. Stones, Colman, Baines, McCarty, Besic, Lukaku, Mirallas, Jags.

The atmosphere at goodison will have to change whether it comes from the players producing the goods with the fans reacting or the fans doing something about it . I know some here laugh at this and reckon this has no influence on results and although this is true to a certain degree but we have an old stadium that can become a very difficult place for players refs etc and small/big decisions can be made from the influence of the fans. With the type of football RM plays I feel the club really need to do something about it. Keep a section of the street end for the groups that want to create a bit of an atmosphere. No need for flags banners etc just some young lads making a racket together.

I give him another year but to be honest its a difficult position he is in and until we can afford and attract players capable of champs league (at least 4 new starting players) we will be very doing well..... no we will be doing an excellent job to make top 6

Why do people keep saying Everton have 'limited funds' to replace players? It just makes me wonder where this idea we are skint comes from. We didnt pay everything for Lukaku up front, in fact its probably spread over 4/5 years, no? So thats essentially roughly 7m we spent last year after at LEAST 30mil came into our coffers. And lets forget that small Sky money being brought in next season as well.

But nope, the whole 'we are just broke!' keeps on being thrown around.

After commiting to Barry, lukaku, atsu and new contracts i think we spent a fair bit. I raised a point earlier that we should be doing better because Martinez wanted lukaku to stay and everton coughed up a commitment of £28million to land him. Nothing is a guarantee but if you buy a manager his favoured players within budget then i expect results. Something Martinez isnt getting this season.

Maybe the title of the thread is more aggressive than it should be, my problem with some of the replies is they normally back martinez (which as i said earlier is fine, we all have differing opinions) but the problem lies with the fact everyone is to blame but martinez, only a few have popped up to say, yeah bobby should take the blame but he alse has dealt with problems A,B,C. such as injuries which havent helped, and again that is fine.

I didnt really get my view across in terms of what i would do, just more of a observation on what has changed. For example:

Me: I would give Martinez until the end of the season to see how we finish. If there are signs of him mixing it up then im happy to at least give him next season.
General: General observation is that we are 12th, out of both cups, playing okay but no real attacking threat 2 wins in 16 i think is worrying.
Everton: Will probably give him 5 years to see were he can take us.

I tried to point out i actually want bobby to stay and succeed personally, but im not sure he will take us any further than Moyes did. Moyes has been lynched plenty of times for poor subs or lack of attacking balance, which martinez is guilt yof lately.

The problem is Paul is that you don't agree with their views..but its their prerogative to question your confused reasoning when you contradict yourself in such a long post. Im pretty sure that its actually the opposite to what you state ie that the majority of us think "everyone is to blame but Martinez". I would err on the side that a hell of a lot of more people do blame him but they also do factor in the injury problems etc. Most people on here can recognise the problems weve got to be honest Paul and your last point is unbalanced given the timescales of each manager.

Okay, how long would you give martinez to sort things out before we realise that maybe it isnt working out ?

No dig at you by the way just a honest question, i would love to sit here in a few years time watching the CL draw having qualified via the top 3 and also being reigning fa cup champions.

We must be skint because Moyes once said we're skint so therefore we're skint ALRIGHT?

isnt it more a case of the amount made available to the manager ?

Are you honestly suggesting Everton have lots of money for players?

I wonder if @davek has an opinion about what might have happened to that 30mil.
