2nd season syndrome
Blue and white k.....
Pablo pull yourself together man.
If Moyes was in 12th in the league, with his baffling substitutions, dont you think he would be lynched ? It has happened before with moyes so why is bobby any different, especially given the board bought lukaku for £28 million at bobbys request and is making him look like a sunday league footballer by refusing to go to two upfront when required.
liverpool spend a lot of money also, their haul of trophies over the last 20 years isnt all down to ' letting the managerial team know when they are not happy'In relation to the whole turn us into spurs or Liverpool related comment, as much as we all laugh at them, Liverpool have won trophies in the last 20 years by letting the managerial team know when they are not happy, Liverpool show more ambition than everton as do spurs, the only difference is Liverpool think they have a god given right to win - we dont. Spurs just spend alot of money which to many is the wrong method, we dont have that money, so im not going to want us to be either of them, im not suggesting that we should be a top four team, i just believe that bobby should achieve more with this squad than top 10. Maybe next season will be the deciding point in this ?
People wanted a change from Moyes they never complained during the first 7 years of his tenure regardless of where we where in the league. In the most he was well respected by the majority throughtout his 11 years but it was clear that both sides need a fresh challenge in the end.
Martinez got the best out of Lukaku last season and many of our players, this season collectively they've under performed as has Martinez but progress is a bumpy road and we've seen the highes he can take us too, he just needs our backing in a low.
Also im sure you know as well as everyone else the price for Lukaku was £24m rising to £28m if a set of targets are achieved, stating it as an outright £28m makes for very dramatic effect and it's unnecessary to emphasize your point.
I really don't get this. Last night we contained the best team in league by miles with a great defensive display, had the two best chances of the game and played in a way that is vastly different to how we have played throughout the season - plan B. They spawned it in the last few minutes with a deflected shot and a lapse by the otherwise outstanding Howard.
How then are people still saying that Martinez can't change the way we play? We lost so I'm not saying we should be delirious about it but why is this the tipping point for some people? I'm happy with that fact that Martinez looks like he's evolving as a manager and appreciates that game management goes further than just trying to dominate possession at any cost. The line between us getting beat last night and coming away with 1 or even 3 points was paper thin.
Martinez in, blerts out.
I think Bobby would prefer to do that as well but there have been times this season when we've had to rush players back due to the lack of other options. (Barry/Alcaraz/McCarthy and others have all been rushed back at some point, playing whilst not back up to speed and either re-injured themselves or put in some woeful performances). In relation to injuries, i believe this season is the most injuries we have had, martinez spoke last year about his methods, different muscles are required for practising on the ball training (honestly i dont have a clue what that means) but i will say i prefer for him to do what he did with mccarthy and give him as much time to recover as needed. Injuries no doubt play a part in any team but it is the managers responsibilty to work with these problems.
We made a commitment to pay upto £28 million for a player who bobby believes will easily fulfill these 'clauses' because he will be world class. So no im not being dramatic your just pointing out tiny details to keep me quiet.
As for backing him in the low periods, i am still doing so, even though this thread may suggest otherwise, like i said im not wishing for bad luck on martinez, i just think maybe this is a case of what ifs ?! Now of course in that what if scenario he may win us a cup or two - and that is my wish - WITH bobby in charge would be a bonus.
the line between us coming away with 3 points was as thick as the Maginot line mate
