Real Madrid Clear Out

my only problem with buying these type of players is.........
1. they will be seriosly top whack wages.
2. for the price we pay there wont be much sell on value .
3, after playing and perhaps failing at real madrid will they have enough heart to play for our shirt and fans or will they just be playing for a pay check ?

id rather sign players on the way up in there career (naughton moutinho , pastore), not on there way down(van nistlehorseface).

Get Drenthe on the cheap.

Said it a few years ago, but with the right guidance the lad willl come good.

You're probably right in that. Season long loan with option to buy would be perfect. Lost his head bigtime after the U-21 euro's and the interest of Madrid following his performances. If anyone can sort him out though and and kickstart his career, I'd like to think it would be David Moyes.

Signing VDV however, would make my summer perfect. Really like the player and the person. Not a big time charlie, but a hard worker and a very down to earth guy. Also and most importantly, talent in abundance.

Arteta and Pienaar were going backwards in their career when Moyes signed them.

yea , but they hadnt reached there possible potential and where still young.

but in fact ,your right.
looking at our squad the same can be said for neville saha and howard too .(lets just say im full of it , lol)

If we do go for one or more of these players, I don't think the only thing we should look at is eventual "sell-on-value". More importantly for me is what will they be able to give our club in the type of increased revenue? I don't mean t-shirts and souveniers, but if we do get them with high wages.. will we be able to punt into the top 4? If we do.. then I say it's worth it, since the income from there will be worth it.

It's a huge risk, but perhaps one we need to make soon?

vd Vaart would be the best signing by an Everton manager since 1966 (Alan Ball). Sneijder not so much - great player, greater ego - even his teammates cannot stand him.

And Drenthe - I agree DM could unlock this lad's potential.

Now, I know we're not really going to get vdv - besides all esle his wages would be beyond us - but in an ideal world if we just signed those tow (vdv and Drenthe) and noone else this summer, then subject to not too many injuries to star players, we'd be top 4 for sure.

Ah well, one can dream...

Saviola and Van der Vaart would be 2 very good additions imo!
No they wouldn't.
Saviola is only interested in collecting his paycheck and he also can't play as striker in 4-5-1.
As VD goes, we don't have a place for a player like him in our current system.
Sneijder would fit here better, as well as Mamadou Diarra, but they are out of our range, as well as other candidates.
Drenthe is quite shitty at the moment - he would be loved by some fans, because he's pacy and he's working hard (known also as "running as headless chicken"), but he brings new meaning to the "Lack of final product" term.
