How do we improve?

Well we've tried personnel change, formation change and even changed our passing philosophy.

What's left??

changing the personnel in a formation change with a change in philosophy. Lets have Naismith and Barkley dropped, play Lukaku off Kone. The first two can be subbed on as and when required, fresh legs and a twist to the setup in the second half. It might be the jolt a few need.

How we could use some experienced creative heads on working bodies to step up and bust a few moves. Pienaar and Osman, where are you?

Can you seriously see that happening.

We all know it'll be business as usual come the next game; same set up, same 11, same performance, same outcome, same argument, same press conference and same BS about we are almost there

It's like groundhog day being an Evertonian, except RM doesn't learn

Loved that post, L4.

Here's the thing about Cnut, though and this is what sets him apart from Bobby.

Bobby thinks that by wishing it, the tide of defenders will be rolled back and our guys will get through to score.

King Cnut was doing the exact opposite.

His exercise by the sea was designed to show his subjects, whom believed he could do anything, that he was not all powerful and that the sea would not turn back on his command, as they believed.

If only Bobby was was as humble :(

You might say Bobby is King Cnut's antithesis. Our King C**t if you like.

I dont know about the manager not learning but the players nearly all of whom are full internationals and many of whom are experienced players certainly are not learning from mistakes in the recent past.

All of them be it Manager, coaches & players need to take a long hard look at themselves because there's something sadly going on at Everton this season.
I would like to know what do they do all week in training at Finch Farm. They train on an exact recreation of the pitch at Goodison Park,The facility boasts some of the finest training facilities in the world so get it right there first instead of fkin heading to Qatar for a warm weather training camp, Baines hopes the camp can help Everton overcome a period he has described as a “difficult moment”. It is a chance to go away and take a bit of time to take a step back and look at where we are going wrong. We have to because we are going wrong at the minute.
“But this will give us more time together to try and put things right. It gives us the chance to put more work in and cover some more points that we need to go over.It is like a mini pre-season,” added Baines?? Well god help us when they get back.

The Manager - Still not convinced he's the man for the job or any his backroom staff he brought from Wigan
Assistant Manager Graeme Jones
Goalkeeping Coach Iñaki Bergara
Head of Performance Richard Evans
First Team Development Coach Dennis Lawrence
Chief Scout Kevin Reeves

First Team Coach Duncan Ferguson - only promoted to first team coaching staff in February 2014

The players - ffs we have a squad of about 35 players including all the youngsters coming through, over half of them play or have played for there national team, get your fingers out from up your arses & start performing

Maybe the addition of Gary Brabin will allow Under 21 Head Coach David Unsworth to work with the first team defence or they need to get someone else in ASAP

A few things to mention...

1. Play more direct

I have no idea why it is considered to be 'against the philosophy' to mix up play, cross the ball, shoot, etc. What is the philosophy if not playing nice football? We can still achieve that with more directness. It can't all be about possession. I'm not saying we should buy Peter Crouch and play hoof ball, but 600 odd passes and a 0-0 snooze fest last night demonstrate we need to be more direct.

2. Organise the defence

I read a few interviews with players a while ago about Robertos training sessions and the consensus is that there is high emphasis on possession and passing and little emphasis on defending corners, defensive strategy. Fair enough, we didn't expect quite as heavy a defensive drill than we had under Moyes but you can't get away with ignoring it to this extent. It shows this season, we are leaking goals from set plays far too often, it is easily prevented and has nothing to do with retention of possession/philosophy etc, it's just poor organisation!

3. Naismith or Barkley

I'm fed up of seeing these two practically running into each other. Neither are wingers, neither are deep lying midfielders, both need to occupy a central attacking position, so we should stop playing them together.

There are plenty more problems, too much for one post, that's the real worrying thing...

I was cursed by a gypsy lady while I was in Greece because I didn't pay 4 euro for her stupid flower. I think our current struggles is due to this curse. How do I reverse a gypsy curse?

You need to sacrifice a minimum of three Everton players who are underperforming.

Good thing before the season started I wrote down the names of three players who will let us down this season on pieces of paper and put them into three separate envelopes.

We weren't awful last night but there were a few problems:
  1. Lukaku needs to learn to shield the ball better. I know he doesn't have much support but Lescott buffeted him far too easily.
  2. Naismith and Mirallas were too wide, which left Lukaku isolated with two centrebacks and no space for our fullbacks to run into.
  3. We're trying to play the ball over too long a distance, which makes it easier to intercept. It should be one touch in smaller triangles to move the opposition around.
  4. Naismith is probably our most intelligent player and a great poacher but he's also probably technically our worst player. We need to keep him in and around the box because play just breaks down when he gets the ball otherwise. Maybe we need to play him up top and Lukaku out on the right where he can receive the ball facing goal and run at defenders?
  5. I think Barkley is probably better coming from deeper, where he can run with the ball and spread passes about better. Especially if we bring Naismith and Mirallas further infield.
  6. At one point Stones ran from defence with the ball, meaning that Jagielka was our only player not in their final third. It's naive in the extreme. If we're going to send both fullbacks forward and our anchors aren't disciplined enough to sit and protect, then the young defenders needs to be told to curb is natural instincts.
Joel
Jagielka Stones Distin
Coleman _____Besic________Baines
Barkley
Lukaku ______Mirallas
Naismith
I think if we went with a third centreback our fullbacks could afford to stay upfield more, Stones could run into midfield as much as he wants and we'd be able to cover for Distin's wandering about.

Barkley would be a bit more of a quarterback, like Gerrard has been for Liverpool, and he'd have options in front of him to aim at. The front three could be interchangeable.
