Listen I don't want him sacked but the "who could do a better job" line is an absolutely appalling argument, it would be virtually impossible to do a worse job than he has this season.

You've got a very valid point. I think it all comes down to the next two games - Palace and the RS - two wins and he saves his job and our season - two losses and I think everyone will lose patience.
We were saying that before the Christmas break too, two more games is wasting time, and will put even more pressure on his successor and the 'team', the window will be closed (I think), and he's already had the benefit of the doubt :(

'Apologists' remember.

Moyes had a freak season, and Martinez got us our best points total - no hint of irony. This fiasco has been onrunning for months, 'plan B' 'too rigid' 'bad substitutions' 'not learning from his mistakes'. Who is being talked about?

We were a solid defensive unit, has Martinez overseen our greatest number of goals conceded in the PL? stats huh.

I get it -- you're still crying over your Moyes poster. And it was a freak season when we got fourth, no matter how you slice it. Wasn't like we were bossing teams off the pitch. And apologists may remember, but so do I -- complete bottle jobs by Moyes, enough to start a small brewery. Good thing this site wasn't around when Moyes guided us to 17th -- the pitchforks would have been well and truly out.
This "fiasco" hasn't been running "for months" -- that's a typical overreaction by someone with the patience of a five-year-old. From the Anfield derby to the Wolfsurg game away we lost once in 11 games over a two-month spread that ended seven weeks ago.

Voted yes for 2 reasons

1. He's a one trick pony and once found out has no other plan. This was also the reason I didn't want him in the first place.

2. I want to keep our good players and just letting this season fizzle out and writing it off will make some of them question their futures.

His record since Southampton last year

Played 25

Won 6
Drawn 8
Lost 11

Extrapolate that over a full season is 39 points.

We've been awful since last April and thats not even getting into the utterly shambolic pre-season.

That is terrible. Like I say, I'm behind him right now but that could all change depending on the next two games...

But Martinez has cash to throw and he inherited a top 6 squad. When Moyes first took over, his team consisted of Gemmill and Alexanderson.

We won exactly the same amount of games by one goal that season as we did last season (13)

So? We also finished with 11 fewer points than last season. Of our 18 wins in that fourth-place season, 13 were by one goal. So we did scrap our way to fourth as we weren't putting teams to the sword that often.

You think realistically Koeman would leave Southampton for us after what he's done this season? Absolutely no chance.

He'll be off to Barca after Saints not us..
We are a massive club with a great history and a lot bigger club than Southampton why would he not want to come here.

Your'e so right, oh how we bossed them off the park at Anfield. Oh the halcyon days of the bossing.
Do you recall shipping 6 to Chelsea? Moyes posters though ay mate.
Crying though ay mate.

There is no battle in this side, none, heads drop when a referee gives against us in a harsh decision, so last night we get a very fortunate penalty and we stuff it and its heads down again. We are too soft, it's all well and good relegating Wigan and conceding record goals and getting volleyed off the park there by 8 goals a time but I dont want it here. I don't accept it here. No thanks, not for me.

Spineless.

We can't defend, passing forwards is treated like being crucified, so the ball just keeps going backwards. I posted last night, I expected the penalty to be played back to Robles. It wouldn't have surprised me one bit. Martinez has us playing this badly, and it's an expensive squad filled with internationals. No £450k Marcus Bents or £2.2 Million Cahills. Oh no.

Where was the cavalier attitude last season? We beat Arsenal and were on them for the run to fourth, it was over, done and dusted 2 games later - the first capitulation against Palace, who was it next? The Moyes type teams today modelled on that hard working, closing down, pack the midfield type game are anihilating us.

Martyn
Hibbert Yobo Weir Watson
Carsley
McFadden Arteta Cahill Kilbane
Bent
That side from back then would Work us off the park today. That is a travesty!
