Because he's been played there consistently THIS SEASON despite clearly being gash in that position. I don't give a rats arse about last season, it doesn't matter one bit to us right now. I wish people would stop bringing it up
I don't agree with that and anyway it still goes to prove the point that we are not simply doing the same things over and over again as you mistakenly claim.

We have been making changes all the time. Take for example the deployment of Baines into a midfield three at Newcastle. By general consensus the last few games have seen us go more direct to Lukaku - another change. It has been very noticable how differently we have used our fullbacks this season to last. Recently Baines has been so narrow and defensive whereas last season he was bombing up and down on the overlap.

What hasn't changed is the overall style and principle of our play which is possession based. Unfortunately, the speed and fluency with which we do this has changed.

So no, we are not doing the same thing over and over again.

Was a big fan of Martinez and would still like to see him succeed because last year was best I've felt about us for ages and the man seemed to say and do everything right . He changed the whole attitude of the club in 9 months. How it's gone so wrong in 6 months is the question that needs answering. I know teams seem to have sussed us and he's very stubborn in his methods but got to be more to it , I'm losing patience with him now and feel it is maybe time he went . My question is who replaces him ? Everyone saying sack him yet no one offered up an alternative yet

He is on borrowed time, imo. Anyone who isn't acting like a teenage boy-band groupie has completely lost confidence in him, including the players.

I think it is a matter of when, not if, he gets the sack.
The problem we have is the chairman he will never sack him.

We'll stay up or go down with Bobby. Fact.
yep Finn thats right. Bill does not pull the trigger.....BUT.....Should he go ?

I think yes....and I backed Moyes to the end.

I think he is pig-headed and will not change because his 'philosophy' is to play a certain way. Well got news for you Bobby, we ain't Barca. Dig in and get some results

The road to hell is paved with good intent.

I'm behind him and the players 100%. After what he did last season he deserves more time. If in two months time we're still 3 points off relegation then I'm sure Kenwright will deal with it and take action but right now I do think he's still the right man.

That's not to say he's sitting easy. Things have got to change and fast within the team. Starting with our spirit and leadership. We have to find a way of winning, however that might be.

We are in mid Jan and are 3 points off the relegation zone which is seriously worrying but it's not March and I'm confident we'll be safe by then - we've got the quality in the squad and if we can find our desire and spirit we'll be fine.

Every manager has a bad season and this is definitely Martinez's biggest test. Time will tell if I'm right...

Can I just ask something out of curiosity... Those of you that voted for Martinez to be sacked, who do you want to take over?

We're in a bad moment at the minute but for the long-term is there a better manager out there right now?

Duncan Ferguson would be great if come March we're in the same position but that's a short term solution.

I don't agree with the premise that Kenwright will accept whatever he delivers, including a relegation.

Bill's not soft, he knows that relegation kills us and we simply can't take a chance that it'll happen. I think he'll be nervous at presnet and desperate for Martinez to get a couple of results, halt the slide and lift the mood, but equally if it gets to the point where he thinks we're in grave danger, he'll shoot him. (he might be crying and begging forgiveness while he's pulling the trigger like...)

What are you basing that on though?

I disagree there. We're not a sacking club and never have been which is a good thing. However, there's absolutely no way in a million years Kenwright will sit and watch Martinez take us down, it's not going to happen.

Martinez won't be sacked unless come March we're in the same position and then he'll be shown the door because Kenwright knows as well as we do, no one is bigger than the club. @daz4matty

Too many people pointing the finger at Kenwright here and it's not on. Everyone has there opinion which is fair enough but to say Kenwright wouldn't sack Martinez is ridiculous.

Do you honestly think our chairman will sit and watch us become a Championship side? Of course he wouldn't.

In the same breath he's not going to sack our manager because of a bad spell - he'll stick by him for as long as he can but he won't let him ruin our club (which for what it's worth I don't think will happen - I think we'll pull through under Martinez).
