Isn't that because he's not managed a club though?

As much as I heart Duncan, it would be a silly decision on our part.

O yeah it would be crazy, i agree with that, but so would bringing Joe back as some have mentioned. Everton legend yes but he is well out of the managers game these days.

It does sound crazy I'll give you that.

But I'd pure get a semi on at Duncan/Royle in charge of any Everton team, even though I know it probably wouldn't work.

Derbies would be boss again.

If he became manager, he should make the outfield players wear those things that measure "effort" - like the amount of perspiration, the number of yards run etc and create a scoring system based on those stats.

The player with the lowest score is put inside this heavy bag....

That's his public persona. I think taking Mirallas our best player off tonight shows he has balls.

Unfortunately I don't think Mirallas and Martinez ever got on great. He left him out a lot last season for Deulofeu and I don't think Kev ever got over that and as the team have got poorer he's gotten more selfish, basically it almost looks like he's sending a message to Martinez.
Weird thing to do to hug the manager you dislike, even crazier to do it twice in 18 months. He went and celebrated with him as recently as his free kick goal vs Spurs.

The fact there are eight teams in the league worse than Everton doesn't change the reality the team appears to be in shambles. The only question that matters is this: does Martinez have control of the situation? No one outside of Finch Farm knows what's really going on, but it's getting difficult to suggest the answer to that question is "yes". To wit:

-Eto'o, for whatever reason, has forced his way out
-The squad has seen an astronomical number of muscle injuries
-Backroom staff departure(s) midseason
-No on-field leadership to speak of. Chemistry in general can be questioned -- just watch how the players react to each other.
-Osman confirmed the team doesn't practice set pieces; Lukaku said the team asked Roberto to play more direct; Garbutt suggested the team might not have been prepared to play with a flat three midfield (and hasn't seen the pitch since)
-The club's record signing isn't much involved, while Barkley, the club's homegrown diamond, has looked lost for months
-The club's offensive output has slowed to a trickle
-The club's defensive record is fourth worst in the league

Martinez has earned the right to have a down year -- finishing twelfth, while no fun, isn't the end of the world. But the point at which leniency for any manager in any occupation ends is when the situation has deteriorated beyond the ability of the manager to cope. We aren't there yet, but sometimes it looks like we're getting close.

No unless we can find a good replacement soon- hopefully not because
What if next season we finish 4th, all you negativity blue noses [Poor language removed] ( including me) will have our balls sacked.

I've been given food for thought. But I don't think we should be sacking him, at least not yet. The results and performances haven't been good enough, but then again he has for me earnt a bit of goodwill from last year. If we come out of the next four league games with nothing, then I think that my goodwill and patience will have evaporated, no matter how well we are doing in Europa. That gives him until the end of Feb to turn things around, and 12 games for the new manager should there be a need to come in and make the needed changes. I think the team and manager are good enough to turn this around though. Last year wasn't a fluke, we deserved to finish where we did. We just haven't measured up since.
