Since start of December:
Hull (h) draw, City (a) lose, Krasnodar (h) lose, QPR (h) win, Southampton (a) lose, Stoke (h) lose, Newcastle (a) lose, Hull (a) lose, West Ham (h) draw, West Ham (a) draw.

D L L W L L L L D D

Six defeats and a single victory. 10 goals scored, 17 conceded, zero clean sheets.

Next fixtures:
West Brom (h), Palace (a), then Liverpool (h), Chelsea (a)

We will not take more than four points from those four games, and if that is the case we'll very likely be around 16th/17th come the middle of February.

Ouch.

EDIT: Still think we'll win the Europa League, so this classifies as a positive post.
. I sincerely hope not (forgetting what you say about Europa ) , and I feel that despite tonight we're on an upward trajectory. Players showing more fight, Rom looking well... Am I being niave or realistic? I honeslty can't tell!

We need Mirallas to sign a new contract he is our best player with the most cutting edge.

West Brom game is massive if we lose we could be in the relegation zone !
Still time for a new manager to come in and make changes if we lose to WBA. Seriously, does anybody feel they can back the manager if we lose next Monday?

Transfer window still open, might come down to cashing in on Barkley to avoid relegation.

30m gets us a set of top players, if we could only convince them to join us.

Don't want it to happen, but keep him on this 'form' and get potentially relegated, or cash in and very likely shoot up the table to an at least modest finish and get further in the UEFA.

True mate but what was important was the continuation of showing fight, commitment and pride in the shirt which we got in abundance tonight. I said to you Dave after the Hull game it would take 10 performances on the spin with all of the above before I started to forgive the tits for the shameful performances they were putting in. This is game 3 of showing the bare minimum of what we demand which is desire, effort, sweat, running the hard yards and we got it in spades tonight. 10 men, 60 odd minutes and at times we were purring like a rolls Royce in extra time. That confidence and swagger that's been missing was showing it's beautiful head again. Game 4 against West Brom, expecting us to absolutely destroy them tbh because I think we are back and will be much stronger for this. Gutted we got beat tonight, but I can rake it on the chin and say they done me proud tonight
We are desperate to come off that pitch next Monday with a win. The players look like they're back in the room again anyway.

We'll be more than ok this season/

That still feels like a kick in the plums, but I dont think we have what it takes this season to have won the cup this season.

Realistically it's 5 points, provided we play how we have the past 3 games.

Beat West Brom, draw with Palace, draw with Liverpool and lose to Chelsea

The worrying thing is that 5 points from those fixtures would be realistic if we were in good form. Ok, possibly 7. But our form now isn't inspiring, and add to that the pressure of needing 6-7 points from them.

Definitely need to come off the pitch with a win mate. The lads wouldn't want to put that effort in like tonight without getting their rewards. More importantly, fans need to walk out the ground with a spring in their step after a win. Nothing like getting 3 points to make us all feel better. I really feel we've turned a corner even though it seems stupid to say that after 2 draws and a penalty defeat. I think someone is about to get a Royal Blue bumming and my bet is its going to be West Brom, Palace and the RS who are in line for it.

We are back but too late to do anything.

Eurofun maybe.

I also think it's fair to say Naismith's 'form' at the start of the season was an incredible purple patch, the likes he'll never see again. Yes, good goal against City, but his all-round play is abysmal, and nobody can argue with that. Does more harm than good in the starting line up.

Tonight I was delighted with Phil Jagielka, a heroic performance.

Robles and Mirallas vying for MOM, while Lukaku continues improving.

Baines, Coleman, Barry and especially Barkley all bloody awful.
