Yeah, it's not like we're building on a solid platform with very promising youngsters coming through and many of our star players just hitting their peak in the next two years along with having one of the best managers in England

Moutinho is not as good as Arteta, he's good but not that good. Offer £30m and I'd consider but £20m... No chance

Let's be honest for a minute. Take off our blue tinted specs and get real.

We are never getting near the top 4 teams in this country with our current squad. Ever. We may get closer to Arsenal, but if they run out of money, which I think they are, they will have someone investing in them before us any day of the week. Fact.

Until the day comes that we get investors, we wont be in the top 4. Until the day comes that we get a new stadium, we wont get investors.

Yes your right, Arsenal have run out of money, OR, maybe they have so few funds at the moment because they are paying for their £400m stadium that they fill most weeks.

Do you not realise what Moyes could do with £20 million? That is a hell of an amount of money. Not to mention the £10m he would probably get off Bill.

That's £30M, and that is an amount of money that we could spend and compete with the top 4 - probably still wouldn't quite get us there mind.

I guess we'll have to see really. For me Cahill has always been so important for the simple reason that for so long we where dogshit in anything but a 4-5-1. With centre midfielders like Carsley, Neville and Osman and Gravesen that was expected, lets be honest.

I remember watching us after Cahill got injured in 06/07 and the introduction of Manuel Fernandes. We saw glimpses of what we could do then in a 4-4-2 which contained a midfielder who was potentially an all rounder. Obviously Manny's injuries problems and consistency always made it difficult for us to do it week in week out.

Now we have Arteta, a player who has been a breath of fresh air in the middle. Defending, attacking, controlling our play and most of all keeping our shape. His a disciplined [Poor language removed], maybe a bit too disciplined for his own good at times. He can do a bit of everything and with the right partner (potentially Rodwell maybe) we could play in any formation and Cahill absence wouldn’t hurt us anywhere near as much.

I also think there will come a time when Moyes should be looking to get rid of this withdrawn striker/target man and go for something and provides a lot more control. Maybe a 4-3-3 like Barcelona. Three midfielders who face the play and pass and move, that’s the way forward in my opinion, the way to truly dominate and control a game.

All it takes is two high quality centre midfielders. Once you have that you can start thinking about different formations. In Arteta we have one, we need another one.

Jack Rodwell.

Potential I know but he fits the bill, let him develop alongside two quality midfielders.

We need one...

You implied that they had no money to spend and that we would catch up with them because of that, I merely pointed out thats not the case.

They aren't spending money. And they wont be for a good few years.

I admit..I was wrong about them not having money - that was naive of me. I just though that as they weren't actually spending any of it (y)

When they need to and when Wenger wants to they can easily compete in the transfer market, Arshavin came in January for a high fee in January, not exactly a club that refuses to spend it, just being sensible

But you could say the same about us with Fellaini. We spent £15M on him...eventually..but were skint!
