Its a joke.

So Dave. Do you agree. With the money we have available now that Martinez should go out and get a couple of new players into the squad?
I'd advise him to scrap the lot and buy a new squad before this present one buries him.

I wouldn't give Martinez a penny. Have we forgotten he's the man who brought in that fearsome quartet of Robles, Alcaraz, Kone and Lukaku for £40m!!!! £40m and not one has proven to be an improvement on what we already had.

Anyway, it really wouldn't matter who we brought in (that we could afford). Playing in that shambolic, gutless, organisationally defunct outfit would bring anyone down. The core problem is little to do with players, and almost completely to do with a fatal lack of management ability. The side has totally disintegrated. And for that only one man can be blamed.

You have no idea now these things work do you?

For Everton way, read 'Moyes way'.

He's making them pass the ball to each other. What an unreasonable rotter. There needs to be snow on top of that ball when it comes down to earth with each punt. It's the only way they know how.

That is nonsense.

Nonsense.

Lukaku alone makes up more than half that figure you quote and its far far far too early to say he's over priced. He's 21 FFS!

Fails to also address the question. So kindly don't respond again. You have nothing useful to add.

We resemble a mid handicap golfer who has completely lost their swing pattern. We are all over the shop. For anyone who has played golf you will know the best solution in that instance is really to go back to basics and simplify what you do. You can’t approach each shot in the same way as if you were playing well.

Another analogy would be for poker players. In poker it pays to be the most aggressive player at the table. But that does not mean you play each hand, in any situation aggressively. While you can have a broad outlook of being aggressive you need to play each dual on it’s merits.

When Martinez talks about strategy and tactics I think it’s important for him to recognise these defects. I think having an overall long term strategy for how the club should play, returning it to the School of Science ethos is very beneficial. It works for clubs like Ajax (a club we should try to emulate in my view).

However this mustn’t mean in every game we always look to play exactly that way. I think that’s the synthesis that we have to merge, the pragmatism against the overarching vision. Playing attacking football is fantastic, but we should always remember that playing attractive football really depends quite heavily on doing it well. Doing a poor imitation of Barcelona makes you look lifeless, passionless and disinterested.

I don’t think Martinez should compromise his bigger vision. I think that’s what makes him quite unique from other coaches available to us. He does need to find a way to get over more immediate needs though.

If it was me I would start by playing Baines and Coleman in midfield roles in front of Browning and Garbutt to make us more solid. He will not be sacked and shouldn’t be. I have been consistent he should only be sacked if relegation looks a likely threat. At present it doesn’t, but in 4 weeks time unfortunately that may be different. I hope he can get some support this January.

This was all making perfect sense right up to the point you where you said relegation isn't currently looking likely...

See I agree in part and then in other parts I agree the players have to share the blame but he must be given a chance to freshen the squad,if there's money and they don't give him it then I would say he needs to walk or be sacked as the board have not backed him

In all seriousness though Dave.

Would you go for one or two players for that £10m to £15m he has available (but impact the summer spending) or would you wait till August?

I swear, I only come on these forums to watch nsno-chris and davek perform their wonderful routine of dancing around each others questions without actually answering anything. Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in!

I don't believe that to win 2 cups and get relegated would be a reasonable season. Staying in the Premiership is the most important thing for any club. It is the money and prestige. It would be great to win a cup but think about playing in the lower league, the places we would go and the scraps we would get into. Think of the players who would move on to keep playing at the highest level.
As this is the time for reflecting think back to the summer and the optimism we all had, we had dreams of champions league now we fear the championship, we dreamt of Bayern now we worry about Brighton. I challenge anyone to say that if we knew that we would be on the verge of a relegation battle, had the 2nd worse defensive record in the league and struggle to see where our next goal was coming from we would be satisfied with our management team. I think not.

Well he's doing a pretty good job at keeping us in 3rd place so far so I think we'll be sticking with the Iron Turnip for a few years mate :)

But back to Everton, is Dyche really that bad an appointment? Where are you going as a club, what are the targets? Because Kenwright hired a manager who had just relegated Wigan Athletic - why is a manager who is currently doing very well considering his resources, be such an outlandish idea for Everton manager?

Without having to resort to childish "Yeah but ManU are crap lol" posts, can you give me your reasoning?
Its simple. Dyche is another Ginger

I think you'd find the answer to that question is yes for most on here, me included. A European trophy and the FA Cup in one season? Are you kidding?

Put it to the test with a poll if you doubt it.

Right: 'new manager's' name.

Wow, unbelievable.

You're prepared to accept this club going into the wilderness for god knows how long, sacrificing millions upon millions of pounds of lost revenue, potentially crippling us, watching as international players walk through the door for pastures new, putting us decades being our closest rivals now.....All for one man

Dave, you've out done yourself.

bloody marvellous
