Roberto Martinez discussion

I remember this whole situation being a regular thing under moyes. We would have a crap first half to the season then after January come out swinging and be up at the top 7 by the end.

This really is nothing new. We will sign a few players in January weather loan or permanent and will be back to sexy football in no time.

although saying this my main worries with martinez is he really dosent know how to going a win out. which is a must in the PL.

Currently we are not, and as said before I dont know why any fan would want us to be a club that sacks a manager given the situation described above!

IMO its complete nonsense.

But we are such a club.....thank goodness.

We showed that with Mike Walker twenty years ago.

What happened last season happened last season.

i doubt there is one Evertonian out there would consider relegation and winning the Europa League as an acceptable outcome to this season.

The Europa Cup pales into insignificance compared to our EPL survival.

Forget about the EL until we can breathe easily in the league.

Let's hope we win tomorrow and then at Hull and you have my blessing to hang this post round my neck.

But right now, bikey, I am very worried about how the second half of this season is going to pan out.

I am also quite alarmed at the complacency bring shown by many round these parts regarding our current situation.

If this slide is not arrested immediately we are going to be in a relegation dogfight two weeks from tonight.

And I am sorry.....I have seen nowt in the last three of four games to make me think we are going to readily climb the table.

Spot on mate.

It's just a storm in a tea cup concocted by the supporters of hoofball we left behind and who want it back.

Dinosaurs. I cant wait till we get past this slump and they pipe down again. They're very bitter people.

Half a season does not a demise make. Most teams in world football bar the very big names have the ability to lose four games in six in the league. If Everton haven't won by the time they play City then I'd start to really be worried but otherwise I will not complain about being in the last 32 of the Europa League.

We are talking about two different things....you are talking about sacking a manager in a relegation battle. We are not in a relegation battle.

Mike Walker didn't have an excellent season with us prior to having the start he had to the season. Walker had us bottom with, I think, our worst ever start to a league campaign.

The situation now is totally different, and I do find it ridiculous to read some of the posts on here talking about sacking him.

I can't believe that the idea of relegation and winning the europa is even being discussed right now.

Ya think?

Come back after the City game and tell me that.

I will be more than happy if you are laughing at me because we have picked up five or more points in the next three games.

;)

So...because we might be in a relegation battle in a few weeks, we should get him sacked now?

Do you not read the responses people make to you?

In a previous response I told you I do not want Martinez sacked now.

So don't try to misquote me sir or this conversation will be terminated very quickly.

What I have said is that if this current malaise continues for another month and we are still playing the turgid stuff which we have been we will be deep in the mire.

That is a no brainer.

And I opined the board will have to put pressure on the manager to change things before it is too late.

And that if he i s incapable of doing that then they may well have to act.

I for one do not think EFC is a playtoy for Martinez to hone his "philosophy" no matter what the consequences for our beloved club.

I should hope you feel the same way.

ha.

i didnt say you wanted him sacked now. relax.

I am talking about the fume in general, with people mentioning the sack. I think the conversation started with you replying to such a post of mine, no?

And i have no reason to think the boss would treat the club as a plaything, no matter what the consequences. Thats just another thing made up in somebodys head.

The truth of the matter is Martinez has no experience. A few seasons with Wigan dicing with death before finally getting them relegated does not constitute any kind of track record. He's got nothing in his background to suggest he has the capacity to turn this around. Quite the opposite in fact.

With all that in mind you can see why the board might be thinking about the likes of mcclaren.

We need to see a change today something to tell us its not working but i know what i am doing.
The players need to fight today and show the fans they care.
These are on a bad run its a good time to play them

If we manage to do what you say upon on Toonside is a great place to do it and start a winning run. A change of tactics is perhaps necessary but what we are lacking is confidence and a win could restore that.

The team named today regardless of the outcome speaks of a man who has given up trying to implement anything close to a working strategy and is plucking names out of the air in the vain hope that something clicks on the day in question.

That is not how you manage at this level.
