Roberto Martinez discussion

Right lads nobody have a opinion otherwise we'll all get slated if Martinez turns it around.

In fairness its mainly the OTT posts/posters that get jumped on because they come across as screaming and shouting and panicing and unable to see there is a lot wrong in general and that they may be wrong in their opinion that the manager is totally to blame and he should do one of option A B or C to fix it.

If I spent this season shouting Martinez is a clown, he is stubborn and weak and he doesnt know how to fix it and we have to sack him....without really giving much insight into why I'm in total meltdown mode....then Id expect to be laughed at come May when the club hasn't become extinct and the sky hasnt fallen in.

The posts in here have gotten worse today, no idea why some "fans" want us to be a club that sacks a manager after half a bad season in the league...even though we did well in the Europa and just last season were flying for the most part.

But we are a "club that sacks managers after half a bad season".

And why shouldn't we be?

If it ain't working, fix it.

If we hadn't been a "club that sacks managers after half a bad season" then Mike Walker would have been allowed to take us down.

Every club is the same if they think they have the wrong man.

The RS with Hodgson, United with Moyes, Spurs with AVB, Chelsea with Di Matteo six months after he won the European Cup.

I don't want Roberto sacked......I want to see him send out a team to react like wounded animals at Barcodes tomorrow and Hull a few days later.

I want to see the raw aggression we showed in the final twenty minutes of the first half yesterday.

But I'm sorry, if this somnambulant drift continues then we are going to be in deep trouble a month from now and it would be a gross dereliction of duty on behalf of our board if they didn't at least inform the manager that it ain't good enough and tell him to buck up or ship out.

Everton Football Club is not a playtoy for Roberto Martinez to experiment with his "philosophy".

This is much deeper and way more worrisome than players bring "out of form".

As myself and others have commented upon, something must have been said to the players at half time yesterday because the team which came out in the second half was a shadow of the one that battered Stoke for the last twenty minutes of the first.

Jagielka needs benching alongside his fellow useless clown Distin. I'd feel miles more secure with Stones and Alcaraz at the back. Give the armband to Barry or McCarthy - whoever he plays to be alongside Besic. Preferably James. Get McGeady in and get him working in tandem with Coleman. Where is Pienaar? If fit, get him on the left with Baines. If not, is Mirallas available? Can Oviedo play yet? Left midfield will do if no Mirallas. If Oviedo fully fit why not give him a go left back? Why not Garbutt? Our players are going through that motions knowing even poor form won't see them get dropped and this needs to change. As much as I don't like him I'd even give Robles a go in goal. Then he MUST choose between Ross and Naismith and go with one of em in the ten position.

My XI:

Robles, Coleman Alcaraz Stones Garbutt, McGeady McCarthy Besic Pienaar (Mirallas if fit), Barkley, Lukaku.

A well balanced team with underperforming players (Baines, Jagielka, Howard, Barry) out either due to injury or form.

Im absolutely certain that eleven would beat most teams at home and we could tweak it to go defensiv when needed by bringing in Barry or an extra centre back on, etc.

Why must it be so difficult? Shoe-horning players in in wrong positions and refusing to mix it up. Disgrace making no changes at Southampton.

That eleven would do just fine. Shame it might take an injury to remove Jagielka from the team like.

What if he doesnt make it to May?

Ive been having a think, I think his row with Distin has destroyed the squad.

Some players will be on Distins side, some players will feel as tho Distin "got away with it", some players will just think whats the point.

What I witnessed yesterday wasnt just a team in a bad run of form, it was a team that showed ZERO heart, ZERO fight and a team that simply didnt care.

What if we simply just keep losing?

If were honest with ourselves, we've been in similar positions under Moyes around this time for a number of seasons.

Same points. Similar league position. The infamous turn around kicks in on or after Xmas.

Perhaps I've already got the culprits you speak of on ignore then, because I'm not seeing too much nonsense with nothing to back it up.

It's worth persevering with Martinez while the Europa League is still on the table.

However, I'm starting to think he's a bit of a fraud. He's just shoehorning his favourites into the vogue formation, same as Moyes used to.

I also believe the squad needs gutting. They did well last season, but I don't think they're genuine Champions League contenders any more than I think Liverpool are the second best team in the country.

This has become a club where consequences are too expensive, and so the likes of Howard, Jagielka, Distin, Baines and Osman - and Neville, until injury finally rid us of him - are regularly rewarded for bottling every single high stakes game they ever play. I'm sick of seeing the club hand out lucrative contracts to players that couldn't care less if they never lift a trophy.

Bringing this back around to Martinez, I imagine he's far too much of a fart to institute any sort of change in policy regarding players that no other decent side would want.

Well said, soon as the seasons out if we are still pee poor punt martinez out and get koeman or that Dutch fella spurs were after in the summer.

Peddle Distin, alcaraz, Robles, osman, pienaar and Gibson.

Bring in new blood.

I'd like to see us play 4-4-2 occasionally at home tbh, we have the players to do it.

Remember Moyes going 4-4-2 with Neville and Heitinga as the central midfielders!

I dunno.

If we are in around the bottom three with nine or ten games to go the Europa League would be the least of my worries.

In that scenario the Europa !eague should not enter into the equation of whether or not we stick with Bobby for the remainder of this season IMO.

Survival in the EPL is way more important.

I haven't quite slipped into relegation fight mode yet, but if that's where this ends up then I agree completely.

I'm getting my Wigan history a bit mixed up here, but did Titus Bramble play under Martinez at Wigan? Because I seem to remember his weekly brain farts coming under scrutiny well, weekly. All too often good old Titus would try titting about with the ball in the centre of defence and lose possession, and oh boy how the opponents loved him for it and setting up so many goals for them.
Oh how I laughed, 'the kids out of his depth' I chuckled, and the opponents chuckled, all the way to a top scorer contender position, and the oppo fans sneered and cheers, oh the heady days of Wigan getting bummed like Katie Price after a vat of babycham.

Lets put it like this. I'm not frigging laughing now.

!

There is a lot of knee jerking going on here. I think this slump might actually be good in the long run as It's exposed the weakness of a lot of players.
