Tim Howard

I've got a sneaky feeling Robles will be in tomorrow,Tim got a knock early on against Hull and Robles was warming up first and second halves, would be a decent game for him to come in IMHO,no great pressure as we're not expected to get anything out of it and a chance for him to make a name for himself:)

ok, general consensus is that i wasn't nit-picking then.

the fact of the matter is, howard is pretty much what moyes was to us. both very very capable of their jobs and both very good at them. But we've got to the stage where we need to kick on to the next level, and howard, just like moyes can't take us there.

distin and jagielka for the large majority have been of the same low standard this season and i don't think Barry can be overlooked in that regard either, but they've all played at a higher level than howard in their careers imo.

howard's always been more inconsistent than he has been consistent during his career you would say, but has always been a great shot-stopper. he seems to have lost that this season because i doubt there's a keeper in the league who's let in more goals per shots on target.

i thought he'd been poor for a few seasons leading up until last season and voiced my concern that we needed a new first choice and i was very disappointed that we went with buying a backup instead of a first choice.

he proved me wrong, but it seems last season was a one-off if the last 4/5 seasons are to go by.

Begovic has let in more goals to shots on target this season and he is the name people mention most as his replacement.

Last season was his 4th best season for Everton by pretty much every statistic available. Not even close to being his best.

Be honest though. He's not very good and a club like Everton should have a better goalkeeper yeah?

That hasn't really answered the question.

Do you think a club like Everton, who have had keepers like Southall and Martyn in the past, should have a better keeper than Tim Howard?

Yes, I also think we should have better defenders, midfielders & forwards. That's not how it works though is it

Go on then you tell me about why last year he was better than 2007/8?

If you're so sure you should be able to roll it off
He's inconsistent, never comes off his line for crosses, can't punch, isn't commanding enough, wasteful when kicking, causes absolute panic in his own area...... I could go on but I don't like dissing players just for the sake of it.... Bottom line, he's not good enough.

Just a couple of questions.

Who'd you want as a replacement ijjy?
Would you be happy seeing Distin and Alcaraz playing central defence next season?
Would you be happy seek Osman and Pienaar rotating again next season?

Difficult on the replacement one mate. There's loads of unrealistic ones I could name (Cech etc...) but to keep it real I'd be more than happy with David Marshall I think.

I see where you're going with the following questions. Money obviously.

And to an extent I agree. But if this keeps going on, mistake after mistake, then a new keeper will be as important as Lukaku was this summer.

I'll ask you a question. Say the MLS come calling for him. New York City for example. Not at all unrealistic. Who would you get to replace him?

Sort of.

Not too long ago our strikers were Denis Straqualursi and Nikica Offside Jelavic.

Now it's Samuel Eto'o and Romelu Lukaku.

So actually. It kind if is like that.

@Dithering Dougie - I should add to this that a lot of that can be said for Distin too.
