ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Wonder how much that weird line up against Real Madrid has alienated the team from the manager.

Pretty much gauranteed to annoy all the players, those who felt they were first choice benched/left out entirely for a game they may not have many chances of playing in their careers for no purpose as they lost to Chelsea anyway.

Rodgers clearly chose a set of players that he thought were second string for that match, throwing them to the wolves almost, then took credit when they didn't get slaughtered. Most of them have hardly seen the light of day since which you'd think would cause a touch of resentment given the poor performances the first choice players have been putting in.

Still, things can change around fast in football - Pardew and Allerdyce looked like dead men walking a few wweks ago.

Lot of rumours that he has lost the dressing room as a result of that. I'll wager Gerrard was none too please at having been left out of the starting XI, at the very least. We've seen at Chelsea what happens when you get on the wrong side of that sort of captain.

Was poor man mangement on multiple levels imo.

Dressing rooms can usually be won back round with a run of good results but as you say that sort of captain can make things difficult. Might explain the reason why Gerrard seems undroppable the past few games despite some poor performances.

Winning heals all ills. It's the mark of a good manager who can hold everyone together when things are going badly.

This is what Reading’s chairman stated after he sacked Rodgers 5 years ago:

“I understand he didn’t have much time but we got on a slippery slope and it just got worse. Signings didn’t settle, Brendan was adamant his style of play would eventually work. Results kept getting worse, performances too. Results & performances did not match what the manager was consistently telling me. The fans started to tell me a different story. Brendan refused to comprehend the notion of changing his ways so adamant was he that he would be successful. The only thing that was changing rapidly was our league position. Was it hasty sacking him? (No) Did we avoid relegation with McDermott? (Yes)””

reading were fighting for the title and getting promoted the following couple of seasons which shows he had a decent squad to work with as well. shane long stood out like a sore thumb in the championship.

bless the little souls, they've decided to completely delete us off their silly little projected alternative universe table and replace us with southampton, whilst keeping . decide not to even mention us regarding finishing above soton, but include themselves and spurs as team who will eventually hit a run of form and surpass them.

ah bless, liverpool fans = if everton are better than us, we choose to ignore them so that means they're not better than us.

lolz
