'Destroy' the square...ffs
It's a real shame that as EU citizens, we can't safely take our kids to football games, and rather than the police protecting and safeguarding the innocent they indiscriminately plough in and hurt those that require help.

Didnt he say "Everton fans getting drunk and destroying the square" and...i dont know twitter, 'tagged' the French politician in it?

Twitter is a balls sometime because of how people quote other tweets but it was the politician that was saying the "drunk" stuff and he was just showing Everton fans peacefully singing.

My impressions are that the vast majority of Lille supporters are as outraged about all of this as we are. Personally think the best response is to try to make them as welcome as possible in the return leg but that's just me.

ah, thought it was before the politician said anything.

The police are provoking it if you expect people to just stand there then you are mad. Everyone was just having a beer and singing . The plod here clearly want trouble . You keep prodding and you'll get a reaction. I've gone to a hotel for a quiet beer . Can't be arsed with all that

My point is that those images will be used against our supporters by the media. We haven't seen any pictures of the police goading or provoking Evertonians, even though it appears to be the case.

Nevertheless, throwing bottles is a thuggish reaction. I think most sensible Blues like yourself are well advised to walk away rather than react.
