I've plaided about an hour or so. I'm really enjoying it if I'm honest in a sort of, this is kind of scary, kind of difficult way. The game doesn't hold your hand and show you what to do from what I've played so far. There's no objective markers or anything like that. The AI are really annoying, in a good way, they check rooms, react to sounds really well, chase you and ultimately, always win in a fist fight. Ammo on medium difficulty is scarce so far, so hiding, sneaking and sneak kills have been my friend so far. Making it hard because I'm one of them who loves to just go guns blazing and try and to it that way.
I'm playing on 360 and the graphics aren't really impressive if I'm honest, when you look at the likes of GTA 5 and Destiny, this game isn't near those, anywhere. Not to say they're terrible, just some things look a bit odd and glitchy at times.
The way they've set the game if perfect however. There's that widescreen movie look which is really immersive, I feel like I'm playing a movie in a way. There's a sort of grain to the graphics which I think was intentionally put there, really adds to the gritty darkness the game is trying to create. The lighting of all the places I've been really does well to set the feeling as well.
So far, I have no idea what's going on with the story as I'm not far in at all, but whatever I'm fighting against are terrifying to look at and to hear. You can hear certain ones plodding along, groaning and moaning while dragging axes along the floor, stabbing walls. Then the big chainsaw lids are just straight up horrid. NO THANKS.
The controls so far are nice, the lack of jump annoys me as it's a contextual system they've gone for which I reckon will cause me issues. The camera controls are what you expect from any 3rd person game really. Nice and smooth. I haven't played so much to dive into the likes of the inventory system as all I have is a gun with no ammo, syringes and matches so, yeah.
Gonna play more tomorrow, not really in the mood to be playing games for a long time tonight. Uni has worn me out.
