Get a win at Lille and Everton is in the drivers seat to take the group. Would be nice to have a match or two at the end of group play in which to blood the young 'uns.

Tough one to watch. So many giveaways in midfield, no flow to the play. We need McCarthy back for Sunday. Barry and Gibson not enough pace, movement, tenacity. Atsu has pace, but that is all.
Some positives, though - got a point in Russia. I love Eto'o and Rom together on the field. Eto'os holdup play and passing with work well with Rom's power and movement. I hope to see more of that. McGeady showed a few flashes and tracked back more than usual. He'll need both in the absence of Mirallas. Stones is a baller. Can't say that enough.
Overall, I'm not feeling too confident going to Old Trafford.

Atsu needs to be cut a break. Deulofeu was often worse than useless yet people revered him like he was the next Messi. Atsu is a young lad who's barely played except in fixtures where a weakened team is out with him. Like any player a run of games would do him the world of good.

And a win should be entirely possible given a break with fitness and recoveries from injury... and a massive travelling Blue support, who genuinely could be influential on the night.

Sick of stupid negative comments on here. Good result against a very tough team. First goal they conceded in Europe and we played a half strength team as well. We need to learn how to play in Europe and against teams that press which is exactly what Martinez says. Under Moyes, we would have been hammered tonight I think.
Or won.. who knows?
Thought we played like a poor version of a Moyes team at times today. A lot of aimless long balls, but with no support at all, we only got into the game because the opponents got tired, that is not good enough, that we only made 1 sub when we were clearly clueless is just mental.

Poor all round, but for a few decent performances from key personnel we could of been utterly stomped today.

He's Deulofeu mkII.

I never understood why the fans liked Deulofeu last season. and something tells me this Atsu will be the same. Fast and useless.

That is just ridiculous, Jim.

Deulofeu was very good and I for one have no doubt that if he had stayed fit we would have been playing CL football this week.

And whilst he looked lost tonight, I think it is way too early to be totally writing Atsu off.

He never made anything happen. The odd corner maybe.
Ripped Newcastle and Stoke apart. Scored a few goals got a few assists.

I think because he came from Barcelona everyone expected him to be Messi. He contributed a fair bit to us last season and I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

He is not.

I know Deulofeu wasn't everyone's cup of tea and fair enough, can understand why.

But he could change a game in a flash, Arsenal, and run a game, Newcastle.

Can't see Atsu doing that. But I'll give him a bit more time.

Very satisfied with 2 draws away at our respective most awkward fixtures: one 2,400 miles away, the other, 2,399.5 less. With our injured hopefully getting back, we should start getting stronger as xmas nears. Hopefully a win at the Shrekless Theatre of Nightmares and our season is back on track
