not that far from dreaded relegation

We've made a shocking start.

We beat both Chelsea and Arsenal at home last season and got just just a point this season.

West Brom away is a game we should win.

We should be winning leicester away and palace at home as well so we're already making ground up.

Don't for one second think we'll be relegated though hahaha! United are on same points and RS are one point ahead don't think they'll be fearing relegation.

I think we'll finish 6th/7th this year. If we win a trophy and have a run in the Europa I'm happy with that.

Tbf if we didn't get any points from upcoming games we could be in for a "fight" for mid-table and if we get knock off the cups (which is our fate) we're looking for a dire season without any emotions - just like we did with Moyes on board when we usually found our form around christmas which was always too late.

I'm absolutely mad and depressed. They can fck off.

Our attack is never going to get us relegated. that's on thing we have over Wigan lol

but we keep shipping goals and we aren't going to progress either. what worries me is that Martinez doesn'tseem to be doing anything about it

We may well be in relegation zone after next 2 games but way too early to say we will be down there all season. Crap start yes but not season defining.

That worries me about Martinez as well,he needs to be strong and manage the situation.
When wigan went down they just waved the white flag there was no fight or desire there.
He needs to sort the defence now and change his tactics in our own half.
We fall back too deep,we have no confidence there and we overplay so much in our own half.

Have you ever seen a team in this league that had 5 points after 7 games (and that is possible) and finished somewhere around 5th place? I don't think I have.

Maybe Spurs in Redknapp's first season but they invested heavily in January and still finished only 8th. I wouldn't be happy with that.

We've had 6 points from 7 before - 2010-11 season - and ended up 7th. And 7 from 7 the following season and finished 7th again.

But to be honest the rebound in those cases was probably down to Moyes reading the riot act to the players - unfortunately I dont get the feeling that RM can or even wants to do that to steady the ship.

Yeah, you're right but as I said - under Moyes it was always too late and I expect something better from Roberto. I don't have a confidence we'll win any cup this year with that defence (in long term it could be ok, but in cups there are single games that matters) so I'm worrying we're looking for a very dull season.

Even when they win against Swansea it wouldn't be enough for me to fullfill my confidence.

I recommend getting behind the team and having a bit of blind faith, not shouting 'oh dear we may go down' after a defeat in which we had 76% possession. By the same token, Southampton may win the Champions League next season. Likely?

Relegation bound teams do not beat Wolfburg 4-1. Simply, you can't win every game, defeats happen to all teams. Do all teams that lose a match go down? In that case it's bye bye LFC and Man U too.

This is more than a bit silly, I think.
At least we won the passing. ..

That's not really what I'm trying to say.

More that I feel it's premature to be shouting stuff like 'relegation' after a defeat.

No one was saying that last Thursday. A bit too fickle for my liking, all this.

My fear is not that we're going down (that's mental), but I can see us struggling to bounce back when we didn't get a single point from upcoming games in the league. You never know in football but we started many times badly and always came up with nothing - I expected it wouldn't be a case with Bobby in charge.

Yeah it's "only" 5 games into the season but we're not sitting pretty.

You must be a fairly new victim of this syndrome known as Illegitimus Miserabilis. It manifests itself by painful attempts to be amusing on Everton fora by posting negative yet thoroughly factual statements already realised by the cognoscenti of the same fora. In your case, a secondary malaise has appeared in the deluded use of ironical punctuation marks around the word only thus..."only", when in fact it really is only 5 games into the season. There are a variety of remedies available, but apart from the alternative therapy of 4-0 wins coupled with double cup runs, the only viable treatment is a thoroughly good slapping in rotation from the queue available.

I don't think we will be relegated but with two away trips at Anfield and OT on consecutive weekends it is quite possible we will be sat in the bottom three in twelve days time and I for one become mightily depressed when I see us in there at any stage of the season.

And with yet another international break to follow, it is very easy to become rooted there for a period which is too close for comfort.
