Not a world class footballer. Good point.

Just a reminder lads that the mods are charged with the task of keeping order on the site and from time to time we have to make unpopular decisions, or make statements which inevitably some will disagree with.

It doesn't help if those decisions or statements are openly challenged. Everyone is entitled to their view of course, and if the view is that a mod has acted incorrectly then the best way of dealing with it is through a private conversation with the mod concerned or by reporting the post allowing other mods to make a judgement too. If warranted, direct communication with the site owner @GrandOldTeam is an option also.

FWIW @Groucho was well within his rights to pass comment on the original incident - it was wrong to refer to the colour of a person's skin in that context. It could easily be inferred from the comment that the colour of the skin is a contributory factor to the quality of the player - a statement which the site cannot support obviously. He was also right to say that everyone has the ultimate option in staying on the site or not when that person dislikes content or action by a mod.

Don't want it to appear a lecture, but felt it had to be said.

ps: we don't always get it right....

Guess i can go back to doing the flooring and skirting boards then mate?

We ourselves have had our share of players who were going to go on to 'greatness' but fell away rather quickly.

I recall Jeffers, Cadamarteri, Baxter, Ebbrell, Gary Jones and I'm sure you could name a few more.

Thing is, it's extremely unwise to brand a youngster 'world class' prematurely.

I remember Neil Mellor being bigged up. Stirling might be ok - but he's not quite established as 'England class' yet. The media 'vomfest' does him no favours at all.

You'd never describe a white player as that though

You'd just say he was slow and lanky

He didn't need to say that he was black but he made a point of it. He could of just said "fast midgets don't make it to be world class players"

There was no need to bring in the qualifier about him being black. It designates that being black or not is an important feature in regards to judging a players talent, which it absoluely isn't

We are all forgetting the worse crime been made. The word midget is very politically incorrect, much worse than addressing some one to be black. Just because 'little people' are more of a minority than black people does not mean we should overlook the slur of 'midget'.
