Hoping to avoid old mistakes

With the League Cup draw almost upon us I am praying we don't make the same age old cock ups which hamper our chances of winning this trophy.

To put it simply:

  • Don't play Robles
  • Don't mess with your back 4
  • Introduce fringe players when the tie is put to bed, don't start them (Francisco Junior)
This goes for the Europa League too.

Quality wise we have as much chance as anyone of lifting this pot so I'd hate to see these chances ruined by naive errors such as those listed above.

It's about time we put another date on our honours list.

maybe Robles can play but just not as goalkeeper!

With the Europa league this year I really don't think we have any other option but to make massive changes in Carling Cup games, especially in the early rounds.

I want us to play as strong a team as we can. 7 Prem sides already out, another 5 guaranteed to go so that leaves 8 of the last 16 providing we get no more shocks. Got to give this a go as we may never have a better chance to win a trophy.

In the Europa League all you need to do is win your 3 home games and you're laughing. We can easily half-arse it into the KO rounds and then start taking it seriously. The cups are a different matter obviously and any more than 3 changes from the first XI usually spells disaster.

Absolutely right, if we want to win a trophy then we play our strongest team. We won't win the league so why enter cup competitions where we have a good chance of winning and play the reserves.
Look at Hull last night, they were desperate to get to the group stages of the Europa League but they fielded a weakened team and lost the tie, absolute madness.
