Loan watch

MY thoughts as well. In fact I think we've even heard Roberto call out Matty as one of the more promising young'uns we have. Maybe he's hoping to allow him to develop a bit more under the radar with Stubbs.

I also wonder (given the timing) if this was a tipping point in us getting Atsu on loan. Jose was apparently hesitant to loan him to us because of playing time. By removing Kennedy from the picture, it proved that we are willing to include Atsu as one of our top 3-4 wingers (Pienaar, Mirallis, McGeady, Atsu).

Here it is from the horse's mouth. He seems a good lad.

Excellent find. thanks!
I love how he clearly still sees himself as an Everton player and Roberto as his gaffer and that this is a move to help him develop. Love this. Looking forward to this kid storming the EPL maybe as soon as 6 months from now...

Hopefully the move will do him good and he'll improve some more as a player. That's all you can ask.

Lundstram made a good start to his loan at Blackpool despite them loosing the game.

Everton loanee John Lundstram was a real positive for Championship crisis club Blackpool at the weekend

Just getting a side out at the weekend for Blackpool was an achievement, so their 2-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest was in itself not the worst result.

The Tangerines fielded a side filled with Premier League cast offs such as ex Aston Villa forward Nathan Delfouneso and Chelsea trainee Jacob Mellis, and loanees such as Everton's John Lundstram.

Lundstram, 20, secured his loan switch just days before Blackpool's season kicked off, to get regular football under his belt, as opposed to another season with the under-21 side.

And during their defeat at the City Ground on Saturday, he was arguably Blackpool's standout performer.

The youngster completed an impressive 89 per cent of his passes across the 90 minutes, the highest figure of any midfielder on the pitch who played more than half the game.

Lundstram also made more passes (55) than any Blackpool player, and created two goalscoring chances, again - more than any of his teammates.

Defensively he was also a strong contributor - winning more tackles than any other midfielder on the away side, with only one Forest counterpart, Chris Burke, bettering him with five.

In terms of interceptions, Lundstram made three, a feat in the Blackpool side matched only by his midfield partner Jacob Mellis.

Considering Lundstram's lack of previous Championship experience - he had played only in League One on loan previously - and a lack of time to acclimatise, his performance was exceptional.

It's a great sign for Everton fans, and a beacon of hope for Blackpool supporters.

His display also causes questions as to why further Premier League sides are not looking at loaning Blackpool players, for there are positions up for grabs in a competitive league, where youngsters like Lundstram are going to get the chance to play regularly and make a name for themselves.

an article i was taking seriously until this part. he played for yeovil in the championship last season.

will go and check but has anyone seen him play for Blackpool, is he getting into the mess and looking like a player?

My mate works for Blackpool in the media.

Asked him about him an he said he looks neat and tidy, good touch, decent passing range and solid defensively as well. Said he's been their most promising sign this season. I know that's not hard like but yeah.

It's only two really though

Naismith is more of a utility player and who knows when Kone is getting back?

Naismith would play ahead of both Hope and Long though, and it would be incredibly unfortunate if we lost him, Eto'o and Lukaku to injury before Kone found his way from the treatment table. Those odds seem very low to me, and you'd imagine we could always recall them from their loan if such misfortune did befall us.
