Those 9 league goals came in 16 starts and the 3 European goals in 5 starts.

OK let me extrapolate - its his age, money and status as a player as well.

You dont pay someone 60k p/w for 2 years (my guesstimate) at the age of 33 to bench warm for any period of time.

There's nothing to suggest that Martinez would play someone based on salary or reputation though mate. So based on that he's subject to form and performance as to how much time he will get on the pitch.

Would be ridiculous if he didn't play him tbh considering the circumstances - 33 years old/world star/60k pw.

What would be the fcuking point otherwise???
