Oh I'm not trying to come across as a troll or anything, and on a limited budget, I'm just concerned about the level of commitment hell show, obviously it's a good few years since we got scorned by Ginola, Gazza etc... But just like I was concerned when we handed Barry a 3 year deal, I'm just as concerned about Eto'o, hope he isn't just here for a payday; if he isn't then it'll be a great piece of business.
Hes turned down massive offers from abroad to stay in the Prem...

It´s a very, very good signing. The experience and pedigree he brings, even though he´s been over the hill for a while, will be priceless during the season. Throw him on when chasing a goal with 20 minutes left and you´ll bet on him getting on the end of something, especially at home when we put the screws to the opposition.

In the Europe, with games being played at a lowe tempo, he´ll be an absolute gem.

If he wanted a 'pay day' he would have left the Premier League altogether.

Exactly! Didn't he turn down a move to Qatar?

He wants to stay in the Premier League and he wants to play football. We can offer him that and he must like the way Martinez has sold us to him. The word going around with the move rumours is that he has massively lowered his wage demand - if that's true, massive respect to the man for doing what is needed to get the deal done!! That would be proof (if true) that he isn't after a payday and wants to be part of a team. Not the actions of a merc that is it?

Evertonians genuinely moaning about getting Samuel Eto'o.... head, wobble, now ffs.

Think we are all concerned about that tbf.

But the Ginola Gazza era Everton was a joke. Night and day compared to where we are now. We are an up and coming team with real potential and hunger and that is hopefully what is attracting Eto'o. I like to think that he's got a point to prove to everyone writing him off as being too old or too slow. Hopefully he comes here with the same hunger as Bobby has, gels quickly with the rest of the squad, and becomes a legend.

It seems I'm one of the few not totally enthused by him coming in

I thought he wasn't that good last season while at Chelsea or in the World Cup

Hopefully I'll be wrong about him and I can then get vaulted after he scores a bucket of goals for us and leads us to Europa League glory

Right now though, I can't help thinking we should have rolled the dice on Hope or Long and split the money between a cheaper striking option and another midfielder

We'll see anyway

He'll have my unquestioned support while he's an Everton player

Took an 8 million euro per annum wage drop to join Chelsea from Anzhi when he had 1 year left on his contract. Signed a 1 year deal with Chelsea. Doesn't sound like much of a mercenary to me.

Howling here at some of these posts in the last few hours. Not too long ago we had Vellios on the bench. 2 years ago, not even, we had Straq as another option. We are 24 hours away from signing samuel eto'o as a back up striker to our marquee signing and yet still, we have people fuming. Howling here !! Ha ha ha

Not only that but we've been crying out for our board to drag in another face to play up top. Looks like we're doing that. A lad with quality european experience, a lad who knows where the net is and a massive name in football.

A large portion of the forum were pimping Shane Long out a few weeks ago. Some even suggested Samaras would be a decent back up option ffs...

Really? Hallam Hope or Samuel Eto'o?

Probably already been said, but he's much more than a goal poacher. Very clever dropping deep and good with the ball. he'll be great for Lukaku and, I think, be better for us than he was for Chelsea last season.
