Really?

I don't remember him tearing up the league last year. Maybe he did but it was lost on me.

I'm delighted to have him in but would have preferred a move for someone like Danny Welbeck if I'm honest.

Welbeck would have been my first choice off all these linked. ..but Im actually very ok with Eto'o. Think he'll be useful. He also bring, depth and quality. ..think he can give/teach Rom too.

He's the best player I've ever seen play regularly at the San Siro. I know he's lost a bit of pace since then but if he's taking a big wage drop he wants to play.
I expect he'll play most games. If not up front in the Deulofeu role. I think people underappreciate his tactical awareness and versatility.
Fact is he's been consistently one if the world top players for a long time and if he can get anywhere near his pre anzhi quality he'll be a thrill.

Great signing if it happens (sneaky feeling Wenger might try to gazump us with Giroud after getting himself injured) if we do get him it'll rule out Wellbeck - win win

Eto'o was the best striker on the planet at one point, in Rom we have one of the best young strikers on the Planet. Romelu will learn a s*it load from Eto'o.

Long time lurker here with my first post:

At Chelsea he seemed to have the knack of opening up a few defences with a clever bit of movement or an intelligent flick insead of the raw pace he used to have in abundance. I think he'll be useful when we're trying to break down teams who are parking the proverbial bus.

This is a very good point. A lot of people will just be expecting a tap in merchant. He has as good a footballing brain as anybody in the team, and better than most. Lukaku would learn a lot with regards to link up play and movement.

Oh I'm not trying to come across as a troll or anything, and on a limited budget, I'm just concerned about the level of commitment hell show, obviously it's a good few years since we got scorned by Ginola, Gazza etc... But just like I was concerned when we handed Barry a 3 year deal, I'm just as concerned about Eto'o, hope he isn't just here for a payday; if he isn't then it'll be a great piece of business.
