I'm all for players in the class of Eto'o joining Everton but I don't want them destroying the closeness and the harmony that has been enjoyed by the squad in recent years.

Obviously we aren't going to get the ultimate Eto'o - he would still be at Barcelona if he was still at that level. But we are going to get a big name name signing which by all reports is going to cost us 8 million quid over 2 years.
And think what benefit he will bring to Lukaku by training alongside him every day. Certainly a bit more than Danny freaking Wellbeck would offer.

Over two years, regardless of how many goals he 'chips in with' (he'll be on a fat goals bonus to make up for his drop in wages...just let the significance of that sink in), think of how much invaluable experience of winning major honours he'll bring to a dressing room that is currently packed full of potential but with only a light dusting of winning pedigree. He'll bring Rom on leaps and bounds, not to mention the assistance he can give Big Dunc in inspiring the young guns by his mere presence at Finch Farm alone (not that the big man needs much help in that department).

This is a worldy signing if it comes off. The only risk is if he turns out to be a turbocock and destabilises the dressing room, but then there's little evidence of him ever having done that except to the teams who let him go, and generally by slotting for fun against them next time he plays them.
Fills me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Samuel Eto'o has lowered his wage demands by an incredible £40,000-a-week to force through a move to Everton.

Roberto Martinez hopes to rubber-stamp a deal for the Cameroon striker on Tuesday after he completes a medical.
But the Toffees boss has had Eto'o to thank for convincing his Goodison Park board to go ahead with the deal.
The 33-year-old was initially demanding £70,000-a-week after his contract came to an end with Chelsea this summer.
Everton were ready to turn their attention to Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck until Eto'o said he was willing to take £30,000-a-week.
But it's understood the former Barcelona and Inter Milan man has instead been able to negotiate a lucrative goalscoring bonus of around £15,000 a time.
That suits Everton, they know the player won't play every week and, given his recent record of injuries, are happy to agree to the clause.
