...I think an important aspect of this move is that the player appears very keen to join us. He clearly had options, but I get the impression that this was very much his preference and he, more than anything else, made it happen. A player keen to impress can make such a difference, especially in an already positive set-up.

Chelsea were always likely to sell Lukaka. That became clear after he was shipped out on a second loan. For whatever reasons they didn't fancy or rate him highly enough. If they had or you are right about needing to sale players etc then they wouldn't have paid a net £4 million extra on Costa as the main striker & who probably is on wages at least double what they were paying Rom.

As for "barely scrapping through" weren't you saying last week that they were still under investigation? Irrespective did you expect Chelsea to cruise through the first monitoring period? I didn't and I doubt they did either.

Let wait and see what the numbers fo2013/14 show when clubs start to publish their financial results later this year but after the huge uplift increased TV and commercial revenues the clubs playing in Europe received I doubt any , including Man City will have much of an issue. My concern has always been the wage expenditure in relation to the PL version of FFP because certain income streams or reserves cant be used to support any uplift in this .

.

Mourinho was quoting FFP all over the shop as being "always in the board's minds".

Dispute that as you will. Like you did over Chelsea and FFP all along; needing our money for Lukaku.

Lukaku's in an Everton shirt now. You can re write history all you want. Everyone knows you were wrong on Chelsea and FFP.

Was there ever any doubt he would sign [as long as he passes medical],as this is the Everton way of taking an age to sign someone,by it been on,off, then maybe, then on,then signed etc,i know nothing of the player as i never i dont think even heard of him till we wanted him, plus seen the odd video on here

Its not a question of re writing history its about understanding it as opposed to making it up. What did you say about UEFA continuing their investigations?
I know not a lot about the financials at Chelsea. What is clear some know even less!
What I do know is that the up lift that every PL received from the increase in TV monies changes the landscape at just about every club and until we see the numbers later this year the majority of journalists and indeed bloggers latch on to a simple statement and try to read all sorts of things into it.

The delay has probably been around agreeing a set fee and as with lukaku chelski know we are desperate and will probably have hosed us. If the fee was low or lowish it would have been done ages ago. Even RM knows that going into the season with McGeady on the wing would be completely unacceptable. The equivalent of having Robles in goal or Hibbo at RB.

I suspect that's why lukaku dragged on as long as it did I recall 18-20m fees bandied about as fact which is why we were all shocked when it came out as 28m

it has seemed that way since we showed interest. i remember reding 20 clubs were interested, doubt that's true like. and even though the calibre of other teams interested were swansea, sland, WBA etc. he'll still get plenty of game time here as rotation as opposed to being 1st choice with them.

you'd expect us to be playing about 10 more cup games than said teams as well which means he wouldn't have necesserily had more game time at those clubs.
