Christian Atsu

I don't remember the poll but frankly, basing whether or not Everton got bent over based on an aggregate vote of supporters probably isn't the most scientific method.

He's 21 and scores goals. He's done it for two years in a row at two different clubs. The chances of him regressing in that department are fairly remote. He has a lot to work on to become the complete player everyone says he can be, but goals cost money and he provides goals.

We all know the facts, perhaps you might also want to post that jpg of the earliest high scorers where Lukaku is top. I think there's still a few people in Outer Mongolia that haven't seen it.

I think the upper end of the vote was £24m, and in reality that's what we've paid. The £28m is the whole figure, but various outlets have reported it as anywhere between £23m and £25m with addons.

I personally think we could have pushed a better bargaining hand and got him for closer to £20m, but I think we've paid a fair price rather than get an outright bargain.

But that said, it just seems utterly ridiculous to declare it as "overpaid" before he's kicked a ball in earnest. Paying £23m for Suarez seemed mad money given he'd only proven himself in Holland, yet in retrospect that's incredible business. Conversely, Afonso Alves for £18m approx. seemed like fantastic value for a player who scored more than a goal a game in the same league, and look how that turned out.

@MirrorDarren: Everton's loan move for Christian Atsu has broken down. Chelsea unconvinced that player will get enough game time. More @mirrorfootball

I think we paid more as we weren't able to or willing to pay the fee upfront, I read somewhere that we paid £24 mil spread over 3 years plus the agents fees of £1 mil with three mil in add ons depending on us getting top 4 of winning silverware.
