Martinez never mentioned him recently. If im honest I've only seen him for Eng u17 in the recent tournament but I watched all the games and he didnt stand out as a player about to burst through. I thought Jonjoe Kenny looked miles ahead in terms of potential but Ledson was captain of the team so must have something

Fair enough. I havnt seen much of him like but he was on the bench a couple of times towards the end of last season so thought he may get the nod sooner. That could of been because the other young lads where on loan tho? Anyway, hope we have a couple coming in and doing well!

The u18 won 6-1 today and they've only been here since end of June

First game, it's pre season, it was only against bury yes.. But it's all positive

My long shot is that Pennington will be the one that sneaks through the most this season If coleman doesnt play. Not been mentioned by Martinez but played at tranmere and done well fast as ! and good engine on him.
Sounds good cant see hibbert being up and down the pitch with the system we play the fullbacks need to be putting crosses in, also there is a chance for kennedy to get game time this season with only mirallas pienarr and mcgeady he only wingers ahead of him especially with oviedo returning from injury

Jon Jo Kenny was very good in that tournament just gone, Ledson didn't stand out at all, sadly.

so one pre-season game played and if we go by the performances in that match, it has to be said Luke Garbutt looked far and away the best prospect. Unfortunately, he plays a position of enormous depth with Leighton Baines starting and Bryan Oviedo deputising.

Wunderkind: Conor McAleny
Wonderkids: Lundstram, Long
Wonderboys: Garbutt, ,Browning, Kennedy
Boy Wonders: Hope, Pennington

@The_Rat says we have to be careful about bandying the word 'Wonderkid' about, so I'm trying to be as specific as possible.

With Barkley being out for what looks like a few weeks was thinking about who would replace him.

We have lots of experienced options - Osman, Naismith are the most likely with Mirallas, Piennar and McGeady possibles.

However, seem to remember someone saying that one of the young lads we have used as a striker was probably better suited to a #10 role. Any ideas or did I just imagine it?
