18 of those you mentioned are 22 or over. Therefore it's an 18 man squad plus anyone else. Martinez wants 25 plus youngsters (21 or under) which you can have as many as you want of. That's the point of this thread (do I ever have a point?!)

so why does Martinez want to make 6/7 signings? And realisitically how many of those youngsters will get more than 5 games next year? Just a few...If we're making 6/7 signings I doubt we're spending big on Lukaku. For instance..

I really hope we sign Galloway. Admittedly I haven't seen him play but from the much, much I've read - and pics I've seen and my imagination he could be awesome as a CB or CM plus he's English. Nothing has been announced about him or the striker from Utd so who really knows yet. But really, Martinez said 27 plus gks (and youngsters), both our gks are over 21, so I have a feeling Lukaku will return on loan if he does at all and that there's no chance we'll spend £20m plus on him. My guess is we'll be buying cheap signings to make our squad stronger in numbers (plus the youngsters).

2 strikers, 1 CM (2 if we don't sign Barry), 1 AM/Winger and 1 CB.

That's what we need to sign this window.

Realistically, we'd be looking to at least actual money on a striker, AM/Winger and a CM. The CB, the other striker and other CM can be covered with loan signings. So there's 5 players. From our youth players, the most likely to be promoted to the first team are Ledson, Garbutt and McAleny (all nearly saw game time last season). So the squad will have increased by 8 (net of 6 as Velios and Gueye are gone).

One would say we've got somewhere in the region of 20-30 mil from last seasons player sales and whatever Kenwright has left over from the lawnmower money. So realitically, that's 20-30 mil to spend on the permanent signings of 3 players and whatever nominal fees there may be for loans.

So, @eternal_defiance I would wager we will see transfers in the region of 6-10 mil on players. But, sadly, I feel the amount of permanent signings will be underwhelming. Excluding any free transfers, I don't think we'll sign any more than 4 players on a perm.
 

I think we have MAX of around 30m to spend, but that depends on Lukaku, Chelsea are NEA, if we say we will pay you 25p a week over the next 25 years they wont care a jot. But then if we have to deal with other clubs, clubs who actually wanna see money, we will be lucky to spend abar 5m tops.

No matter what happens will we defo 100% loan 4 players again, NAILED ON.

I can see us making 2 perma signings, 4 loans signings and 2 young uns, all for a combined fee of 28p, a packet of Wotsits and a used condom.
