If Woy wants to get the most from the lad, seems he should have praised what he did on the pitch, then "although he could do a better job retaining the ball in some situations." - i.e. "You played a great game, but still have some areas to work on."

Hodgson qualifying what he said last night. Sounds a lot more considered and with the player's best interests at heart to me. Possible that he's read the press and altered his stance slightly or maybe that's what his intentions were initially. Who knows? Better, anyway.
