ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I will surely be chortling when lallana signs for spurs.

Only natural he'll want to follow his former boss, I suppose. He's flexible in the positions he can play, but I honestly wouldn't be too bothered if Liverpool got hold of him, tbh. Is he going to improve their attack anymore than it stands right now? If Spurs get him I could see Eriksen moving on to bigger and better things too. He's a bigger talent than Lallana.

You're a very bad man. :)

based purely on FM ha. and the very little i've seen of him, he seems to be better in the oppo box - those kind of players get more noticed than an actual good defender like jagielka for example.

same reason dani alves went for £24m and he can barely defend for toffee

The hacks at the Echo spinning furiously

"At the age of 15 his dreams were crushed when he was released by Liverpool after five years in the club’s youth ranks. The road back to Anfield has been long and winding.

Lambert has never been giving anything on a plate. In 2001, after being released by Blackpool, he was a free agent and worked in a beetroot factory in order to make ends meet."

Is this a call for a Lambemian Rhapsody to be composed?

He's just a poor lid from a beetroot factory...

he won't fit the system, that position doesn't see enough of the ball at liverpool, there's more than the fact that he's tosh as to why coutinho was largely annonymous last season.

100% agree...with the rider though that this feller Brent changes his mind constantly on how he's going to set up.

You know when people say 'Ricky Lambert is a proven scorer in the Prem'....

He's 32 years old. The first 14 years of his career he was playing in the lower leagues. He's played 2 seasons in the Premier League, scoring a total of 28 goals. 15 goals in 2012/13, 13 goals last season. He's not exactly Dixie Dean is he?

He's been decent in the Premier League, but 'proven'? Two seasons? I keep going back to the Kone comparison - he scored 13 goals in his first season in the Prem. He got injured early on and missed pretty much the whole of his 2nd season. Who's to say if he'd stayed fit, he'd have scored a similar number of goals again in his second season?

Liverpool nearly won the league last season. Would the likes of Chelsea have signed Lambert? Arsenal? Even Man Utd? Or would they have aimed higher? Bear all this in mind when LFC fans rave about Lambert.

A weird signing, given what Liverpool already have in attack, and where their glaring deficiencies lie (DEFENCE!!!!).

For 4m he's a great squad player

Will be used as an impact sub when there chasing the game and in cup games

Fee agreed according to the Press Association. Medical at Liverpool tomorrow after the England game tonight.

Southampton turned down the £4m according to BBC Radio Solent, so it's much more than that.

Probably closer to the £8m figure that Sky are reporting.

He isn't worth that, for reasons already mentioned. Weird signing. Is Kevin Keegan in charge of Liverpool's transfer policy? This is pure Newcastle circa 1995/1996.
