Southampton defender Dejan Lovren and Hull striker Nikica Jelavic have been named in Croatia's provisional 30-man World Cup squad.

what for him? guess so...might be cut yet, hes been pretty rubbish for them after first few goals..16 apps, 4 goals

getting 7 mill was great business, thought we would struggle to get 5mill

martinez is doing well to get rid of dead wood= vellios, heitinga, jelavic

hopefully gueye to follow and dare i say it..hibbert

Don't you think Moyes messed his head up though, playing him as a 'winger'. I'm sure there's a decent striker somewhere in there.

Remember after he scored a few goals after first signing people we're saying what an awful mistake we'd made in selling him? He's a donkey, I'm sorry but that's the reality of it. At the weekend he barely had a sniff and was dragged off with over half an hour still left in the game. Moyes of course chronically mis-used him, just like he did with Naismith, but whereas Steven has managed to improve himself since Martinez has come in Jelavic didn't look any better.

We all wanted him to come good again for us so badly but we gave him more than enough time, we had to get rid. Still amazed we somehow made a profit on him. Wish the lad luck of course, pleased for him he's gotten into the Croatia squad for the World Cup and it's shame he can't play for them in the FA Cup Final. He'll NEVER become that player we saw in the first 6 months after arriving again though, never.

We were VERY lucky Lukaku avoided inury.. Kev Mirallas stepped up v villa but he was desperatly needed versus spurs. Even at Chelsea we needed someone up there and were unlucky with the whole Traore thing. Doubt Jelavic would of made a difference

even in the games Rom was off form, would we of made top 4 with kone/traore/jelavic fit all year round? Just never know..

Getting a sense of 'jelavic is a great striker low on confidence' Deja Vu here.

He was a striker who had a good run of games and then turned out he was terrible in the league and stopped scoring. He even stopped kicking the ball correctly well before then end. Never a premier league striker, and giving him another 18 months he still wouldnt have scored more then a couple in the league for us. As sad as that is.

Lovely for him to be called up though. New club, going to the world cup, made up for him.

As much as i am critical, he was a blue for 2 years and therefore sits alongside madar (how can he miss that?!), Bakayoko and Jo max moore (thought he was quality when i was a kid)

Still think there's a player in there somewhere but it's obvious he needs to have confidence before he'll slot. Wish him well and the move was good for all parties (except Hull maybe) but I can't help but think of what might have been if he re-discovered his 2012 form

Dont be completely fooled by the "We let him go, to get a WC place" line. We let him go becuase he is not that good a footballer.
