Sky Sports this morning spent a fair time trying to portray Mourinho as a hypocrite. Which is odd, because Rodgers post match tantrum was so at odds with his 'class and dignity' mantra.

It's a funny old world.

Yep Rodgers came across as a complete bellend. Its easy to coach tactics like that blah blah well if its so easy to coach that style of tactic surely its just as easy to coach a way of breaking it down. Class and diggity my arse.

Atkinson was pretty far up their arse as it was - that penalty that didnt get given for instance, or Flanaghan not getting booked.

I would post more but Sky are showing the match again. LOL.
That was a disgrace. 5 yards away from Flanagan and he had his hand outstretched. Penalty 100%. That was at 0-0 and it just goes to show that the opposition facing Liverpool are having to literally walk the ball into their net.

Anyone refusing to believe they aren't being forced toward the finishing line by officials need to wake up.

For the record this is what i think on the whole tactics;

West Ham / Stoke / Palace park the bus as it were. They have no real game plan other than to stifle the other team and stop them from scoring. they get as many people behind the ball as possible and as a result become really difficult to beat because any chances have to get through 4-5 players at a time.

Chelsea yesterday outplayed liverpool. They nulified their superior attacking threat, leaving liverpool with nothing throughout the game. Their defence didn't base themselves on numbers, they all moved at the right time. They isolated the attackers, cut the space for the midfield to create and their movement meant the wide players could not really get a run on the box as much as they would have liked to.

the difference between the two therefore is that the teams above are defensive for the sake of being defensive. Chelsea knew what liverpool were going to do with the ball and made sure they could counter it. They took away Liverpools one threat and after that they could offer nothing else to the game.

Mourinho has taken on and destroyed Ferguson, Guardiola, Heynckes...outwitting Gerrard's fluffer was always a likelihood.

Fact is, Liverpool are much more easily contained by playing deep. They still have a window of opportunity to win this league, but next season more teams are going to safeguard against leaving space for them (and they'll find it impossible to juggle more games and less preparation time countering that).
