I know neiler supports americans... Howard he does not like...

I think neiler remembers more of the flapping than the saves Tim makes. Howard's command and actions in the box on crosses drives me batty as well.

Totally agree with this, it's his goalkeeper's bane. Consistent with us and the USMNT. He is just not comfortable on crosses in general. Shot stopping, organizing his backline, reaction saves, PKs - all solid. Crosses are the area where he struggles. More often than not he comes through, but every once in awhile, flaparoonia.

I honestly think people over rate keepers, most keepers have their faults, its a tough position to play.

Look at Liverpool with Mignolet, they spent 9-10m on him in the summer and he has cost them points, I'd rather we spent the money on the outfield 10 than replacing Howard who in my mind has had a good season.

The only keeper I'd be happy replacing him with at the minute is Begovic but he would cost a fortune.

If he hadn't fluffed that freekick, we wouldn't have lost.

Should we hunt a high-end keeper in the summer?

Come on. I've been as critical of Howard as anyone (bar Neiler), but in this case Jagielka's given away a stupid free kick, Distin has completely lost his man and Howard has got to deal with a fantastic ball as John Terry is flying at him.

Dont think you can really blame him. He kept us in it with a brilliant double save at one point.

he's surprised me and had a good season. not quite sure he's good enough for where we want to be - but there are plenty of good shot-stoppers in this league which have other limitations. needs to be looked at in a year or two, more important matters to address this summer i'd say.

A stupid free kick -- don't talk f****n stupid. What exactly are you wanting Jagielka to do? Stand motionless and watch Ramires run past him with the ball. What he does is to be aware that he has cover behind him so does the very least any defender would instinctively do. RAMIRES CHEATED. End of analysis.

Tim Howard is a liabilty, ok he makes some good close range stops but whenever a team shoots or has a free kick outside the area it puts the fear of christ into me. Just starting to lose it now you can always tell a keeper coming to the end of his time when he is unable to hold shots or judge shots from range. Reminds of big nev when he was getting on. Time for a new lad but not Robles he worries me even more.

Calm yourself. He stuck a leg out aimlessly and tripped Ramires up. It was a foul. What he could have done was turned and attempted to win the ball or stepped across Ramires and shielded it. I think he's a fantastic player and he couldn't have done much like, so maybe I'm being harsh, but it was a free kick.

I think hes at fault personally, but its not a total clanger, I would expect my keeper to come and claim that.

Also I didnt think his "save of the season" was that good, Ivanonic hit it right at him, but his first stop was a cracker and hes been largely faultless this season.

I'd say the same but it looked like it was on Ivanovic's head. If Howard is on his line there's a chance he'll save that. Following the ball to collect it and Ivanovic could head it into an empty net. 50/50 guess really, IMO.

He's a mediocre goalie who in an ideal world would be replaced by a consistently good one but there really aren't that many about and i'd rather keep him than replace him with another mediocre one who cost more than we would sell him for, If that makes sense.

Crap at crosses( rarely comes for them) and hardly ever holds onto a shot, preferring to punch or palm the ball away often back to the opposition are his worst faults for me.

that save of the season claim by the commentators was utterly laughable, you would expect the keeper to save that 10/10

Top post, thing is with a keeper if they make a bad mistake it more times than not leads to a goal, its the only position on the park where this happens. Keepers can make one mistake that leads to a goal and people will start doubting if they are good enough but every other keeper makes just as many mistakes. Its to easy to remember one bad call and forget the good ones they make that keep you in the game.
Besides if things are going right for you at the other end of the pitch they wont be called on as much.
Everton are fine with Howard

Nil Satis and all that...for we would never have won those trophies without him:
