To counter the pessimism, I hope he's back soon and surprises us all.

This was taken the other day. Gibbo looking his usual cheery self. The FAI folk were here and released an interview with McGeady on their youtube. Presumably the others were also interviewed and will be released soon.
Imagine all 4 (plus Duffy) on the pitch at the same time.

Shirt sales in Ireland would do well I think

Not sure if you were referring to my post?

Ive simply listed down options we have for a diamond built from youth and stated we can add mcgeady there also. On top of this we would have enough players so could sign others to come into the team.

If we did go for a diamond though then coleman and baines arent two id worry about.

Sorry no, was replying to @FTY

I'm a fan of the midfield diamond in general, but I wouldn't think it is suited for Martinez's tactic of overloading and isolating for 1v1s. I know that tactic has been less effective as teams have (a) compensated for it and (b) starting high pressuring us, but unless RM's tactics change, the diamond midfield would need a change in personnel.

We are also already complaining about being short on midfield bodies so adding a 4th central'ish midfielder probably isn't in the cards.[/quote]

Cant argue with that. The key was IF we had 4/5 centre mids coming through the ranks in the next couple of seasons then this would slot them in effectively.

We'd be able to use a variety of systems as well to bring in width etc.

I like this photo.

Can't wait to have the lad back, think he will work really well with both mccarthy and barry, i think it will do us a lot of good being able to keep swapping between the three of them when they are all fit.

I wouldn't get to excited.

Although I think he's a good player we've see from past experiences that although he will be physically fit and capable these injuries take a lot of time to get over. Jags, Arteta and Naismith all suffered for form the first season back after these type of injuries, I'd imagine Gibson will be the same.

I think he'll be used very sparingly for at least the first six months of next season as he's eased back in.

McGeady and McCarthy are about as Irish as Chewbacca.
