Martinez: 'Stevenage are favourites'

Gotta be honest, after watching the replay of the press conference it was basically a throwaway statement. He was speaking in the context of the FA Cup being an entirely different competition and "divisional separation" was less of a factor because every game is a one-off. There's been enough giant killings over the years to back up this line of thinking tbh.

We're most definately favourites though, and he knows this in his head.

Yep, sounds worse out of context.

Just basically talking about what's commonly known as 'the magic of the cup'.

Roberto's pulling the old bait and switch, the Stevenage manager probably thought Roberto would do his usual uber positive routine but now he's put the pressure on them. They'll crap themselves because they'll think of how big a game this is for them and we'll be ruthless and put them to bed.

He also never actually specifically said "Stevenage are favourites" either, he just said "the home side is the favourite in these rounds" which is very generally speaking in the context of a cup competition.

Haha, the fume on here if Moyes had said that.

I'm not really bothered what he says as long as we go out and do the job on Saturday.

I honestly don't see the big deal... he made a generalised comment about the FA Cup and the format of cup competitions on a whole. If he was applying it to Stevenage specifically he would have said, but he obviously knows that we're expected to go there and win. C'mon now, I wouldn't get too sweaty over it.

If anything the media have tried to put a spin on it. Just watch the press conference for yourselves.

Know what he means but it's uncalled for.
If Moyes had said it he'd be getting slaughtered for 'playing down expectations'.

Difference is, Moyes was never defending the trophy. If he'd won it with Preston, we'd give him the benefit of the doubt first time round at least.

Nice try Bobby.

They expect us to win. We expect to win. Don't let us down!

We've been here before haven't we?!
