Looks better than Lukaku imo. Might not be as quick but he's stronger and has a better first touch. Lukaku's control is dreadful and it's what is letting him down right now.

Is it possible Chelsea have intimated they may sell Lukaku and Rm is holding on to the cash till summer?
This is what I've just been thinking. Surely RM must know there's a possibility if he's willing to save the cash until the summer? Perhaps Rom has stated to him that he would like to stay if we qualify for the CL and that Chelsea would seriously look at any bid we lodge.

Reading that, Chelsea are waiting until summer to see how he progresses. If he does well, they're keeping him. If he doesn't do well enough, they're selling him to the highest bidder.

Look at Barrys goal last week mate.

This. Plenty of times in the Norwich game his first touch was class.

Hate this myth all of a sudden that he's got the worst control in the world and not that good of a player.

Best striker we've had at the club in years.

Lukaku receives the ball facing away from goal but, because there is a defender on him (as there always is now, because they realise he has poor ball control and that be exploited) and he has a heavy touch, he knocks it back a bit. He then plays a simple pass to Barry who does all the work and scores.

What about it?

No, there's always a defender on him because they know how dangerous he is.

It's not a myth, mate. I've been saying it since we signed him. Had a good start with us because teams weren't sure how he'd play under Martinez. Once he played a few games, he was figured out. Place a defender or two on his shoulder, mark him tightly so that he is facing away from goal when he receives the ball. He either loses it or passes it back and nothing is gained from the move. When was the last time you saw him latch on to a through ball and score? He doesn't make the runs to do that. He still tries to have it played into his feet but can't adapt to being marked heavily because he doesn't have the technique, so all he's useful for right now is holding the ball up. However, because we're playing a more patient game, that isn't much use.

Nah credit where it's due lad, he did well in that instance.

That said, your overall point is valid. The ball has been cannoning off Lukaku far too often all season, even the simplest of passes at times. That said, he's 20 years old and learning that aspect of the game. There's no doubt in my mind at all that he'll pick that up dramatically over the next two years, when he'll be one of the most complete forwards in world football.

Well the ball he controlled, then shielded, then passed to Barry came down from about 40 feet, with a defender on his back.

But he is crap, you are right.

He's still learning a lot. Not giving him credit for the way he brought it down for Barry's goal is unfair.

Some fans are taking him for granted I feel. I have no doubt he'll be one of the best strikers in the world in a few years time.

At what point did I say he was crap? As the saying goes, "don't assume..."

He shielded the ball. For someone of his size, I'd expect him to do that without effort. He passed to Barry. Any footballer anywhere near Sunday league standard should be able to pass along the ground when there is no chance of interception, let alone PL standard.

Traore looks better because he seems to do things other than shield the ball and sometimes lose it.

Bollocks. More times than not he just isn't given the ball by our midfielders in decent positions. It's clear for all to see, and his frustration at times is telling when he doesn't receive it in time.
