Can't stand the way some Evertonians seem determined to make Kenwright's excuses for him. They just can't cope without trying their very hardest to make up scenarios that result in us not having a penny for anything. Even when Martinez and other club officials such as Elstone have mentioned that there in no need to sell and that there is money available to make our squad stronger.

The simple fact is that Everton spent the LEAST in the premier league last Summer, and ended up with an approximate 10million pound surplus. For the first time in years (since the last TV increase in which we signed Andy Johnson, Joleon Lescott and Kevin Kilbane in one summer for around 13 million) we did not have to sell a player in order to cover a trading cost. This was because the first tranche of TV money covered our loss and the acquisition of Kone and Robles.

We spent the least in the entire league and we are in the middle of receiving the biggest TV cash injection that the world of football has ever seen and yet Everton are supposedly the only club without a penny to spend. Yeah right.

too many years of Moyes-Kenwright conditioning to negative spends to realize whats happening tbh mate from some

There must be money available. If Jelavic goes as well as us shifting Heitinga's wages off then there's really no acceptable reason for there not being at least £10m available in this window. That's without even considering the TV money

Fellaini sold for £27m, knock a couple of mill off for the sell on fee to Liege.

McCarthy bought for £13m leaves £12m. Loan fees/wages for Barry and Lukaku leaves £9m or so.

Then you've got the issue of agents fees.

We wouldn't have £10m left over.
Also have to think how much of the Fellaini fee is being done in instalments so we won't have all of it yet anyway.

Defour getting linked to Villa by his agent, could do well well worse than adding him like, not likely to involve a big fee either as he's a backup at porto and well Villa arent loaded

What about wages lads.

Transfer fees are a myth they are irrelevant really - transfer cost are all about the wages you loose and take on.

Take a conservetive 30k a week, multiply by 52, wonder where that money comes from.

This transfer fee net spend thing isnt even close to anything of a reflection of incomings an outgoings financially when it comes to the transfer market and the clubs spend fiscally - like i say lego finances.

Surely the same goes for the money we gave Wigan for Martinez, Kone and Mccarthy?

No **** sherlock but seeing as the fee coming in is much bigger we may have spent a fair percentage of that already, if not all of it. I want players in but I doubt we have any money to do it.

Didn't we lose a number of big earners in the summer? If Heitinga's and Jelavic go as well there's another 2 of our top earners

Transfer fees certainly were a myth for the 2 year spell where we couldnt afford a single one.

There should be a substantial amount for the manager to spend regardless of what biased maths you can spout.

How is it biased? 30k a week is 15 mill over a year - 60 mill over a 4 year contract - that money comes from somewhere.

We did mate, we lost Neville, De Hammer, Mucha, Fellaini and Vic (5). But then took on (7) Kone, Alcaraz, McCarthy, Barry, Lukaku, Robles, Deulofeu.

Which is the point really, the club could well afford transfer fees, its the wages that are the problem, the need to sell Jela and Heitinga is more freeing up the wages then it is about transfer fees - that why people doing net spends on tranfer fees are only wrecking there own heads. As far as im aware we're reasonably good payers in the PL when it comes to wages.

Transfer fees are a bit of irrelvency in this day and age, certainly a aspect of a transfer, but not the major contributor to the actual cost of taking on a new player. Which is more the reason why you hear of players needing to go before others need to come in, rather then clubs needsing the fee, they need the wage - circa Jela and Keitings - id say both combined are north of 100k a week in wages.

It like the total liability figure thats trotted out, its not a fair reflection on the true financial situation.

Not defending the board or anything here - because we should be better then we are - just trying to be accurate.
