ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Do you ever question why you are not a regular fixture in the top 4 seen as money spent/wages deems you should be there every season? Not having a go mate, just honest questions I don't understand. You've apparently had all these great managers like Rafael and King Kenny yet you've only once threatened to win the league and for the last two season have been mid-tableish.
This has been covered ad nauseum by other fans who are more eloquent than myself. In a nutshell, during Rafael's tenure, we had very bad owners who took money out of the club and team. Following the year when we came second, rather than strengthening, key players were sold one by one (Alonso, Mascherano, Torres floundered and was eventually sold etc.) and the gap between us and the top clubs widened. Couple this with the knock-on effect of failing to secure Champions League football, and it became very difficult to secure the services of star players. Then the managerial merry-go-round began. Finally, we now have some stability and our transfer business has been very good, as well as some great youngsters coming through the academy.

If you fancy the RS to be in 5th tonight you can get 9/2 at Corals on Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and City to win. If you fancy Arsenal to draw with the other 3 results - for the same situation - you can get a massive 12.5/1 at Betfred.

The season you sold Alonso you bought Aquilani 17m and Johnston 18m

The following season under Hodgson and KKK you sold Mascherano and Torres and bought Meireles 11m, Carroll 35m and Suarez 25m (New owners before you start)

You had negative net spend for two season -8m and -5m

The following three seasons you have had a positive spend of 35m, 40m and 20m

You have failed to keep up with the top 4-5 because of your awful transfer dealings and as for you now conducting good buisness how are Borini,Aspas,Allen,Alberto and Sakho getting on (Combined transfer fee's of 52m)

You said that you watched him be ineffective many times. I took you at you word. If you meant to say that he didn't impress you vs Everton and that you haven't heard Lawrenson mention his name many times on MOTD, then just say that.

His assists are lower than last season, but this is misleading as far as his importance to the team is concerned. He leads the league in clear cut chances created (total) as well as the frequency with which they are created (/min). Also factor in that (a) Liverpool have hit the woodwork more than any other side and (b) the pass immediately preceding an assist is not quantified. The most telling stat is that when he has started, we have lost only once, whereas we have lost every game in which he hasn't.

There was a stat like that for us last year, that when Phil Neville played we'd only lost a couple of games.

He's available as a free agent, get Brendan to sign him up.

The issue of transfers really is tangential to what I was discussing, and is not something that I want to go around in circles in. The players you mention are great, but don't forget Illori, Mignolet, Sturridge and Coutinho. 5 first team players, and promising youth (not sure about Aspas yet). That is a remarkably successful transfer record by Brendan, probably better than any other team in the league.

I'm actually aware of that stat. I didn't mean to imply that Phil Neville was a decent player.

Are you on actual drugs ?

Alberto - £6.8m
Aspas - £7m
Ilori - £7m
Borini - £10m
Assaidi - £2.3m
Yesil - £1m

That's £32m worth of players who have either failed miserably to make an impact, or in the case of Allen are playing games for you but not doing much in them.

But it's investment for the future so that makes it ok.

If more than one of those players goes on to make more than 100 league appearances for Liverpool, I'll buy a hat and then eat it.

Ok first of all thats 4 players

Second Illori has played 0 games for your lot so how is he first team ffs

Are we ignoring the Allen,Borini,Alberto and Sakho transfers, He spent over 40m on that lot

Amazes me that spending £30m+ on players without a hope of getting into the first team is seen as stable and sensible policy but loaning three players is widely condemned.
