... hmm, what was i saying? typical really, haddin did exactly the same as that yesterday and his top edge went for six, cricket is an amazing game at times.

Dumb from Root.

Yeah, not saying the batsmen aren't to blame. Just expect more from them. I remember 2005 like it was yesterday...

A little credit to Lyon too...a bit more turn and bounce in that delivery than I've seen from Swann and Panesar...

i was actually going to talk about something like that happening. It's what england and especially pieterson of late do. They block, block block, get about 15 off 70 balls and then go for a massive heave out of the blue which nearly always get them out. That's not really what i meant by taking the attack to the bowler. Just use the feet, knock it into the gaps and move the field and then the boundaries will come, is more of what i was thinking. Not defending all day and then trying to slog sweep a six!

How many bad balls have they had the opportunity to do that to though TJ? Not many I'd argue. They're a good, tight bowling unit.

Too much one day cricket.
One day shots in test matches don't work.

said it for ages. They're all playing in the One-Day team. Even stokes now has come in and he's a ODI player. People were saying england should never have 3 players like Cook, Trott and Bell all in the same team - that wasn't even with the ramifications on the test team in mind.

put pressure on them, it will soon make them bowl bad balls. Look at swann, when teams let him bowl, he'll do it all day, keep it tight and eventually get them out. Whenever a team goes at him, he looks bang average.

Like i said, it's easier said than done, but these are suppose to be test quality batsman, regardless of the fact their facing test bowlers.

It's the risk of taking them on and getting out, they're under so much pressure from already under performing. I don't disagree with you, but when confidence is low as I'm sure it is with them, it's hard to make it happen. At least they're trying to show some guts and stick it out, hoping it'll come right.

Amazing how much of a mental game cricket is, really can be 20% skill, 80% mental.
