Kone

Odd thing is that a lot of people been slating Kone for a while, but now he's injured where apparently in big trouble.

Don't think its the best situation and I would expect Martinez to bring in a striker in January anyhow but with Jelavic, Mirralas, Delefoulu & Naismith all able to play up front and with the likes of Hallam Hope, Kennedy, Velios playing in the reserves think we will be ok in the short term to be honest.

People are forgetting that Mirallas is actually a forward and not a wide man.

We've attacking options.

No the pope said he is going to kill your mum.

Knob.

Well that was unexpected.

Anyway I wish Kone all the best in his recovery, I'm less than comfortable relying on Jelavic if Lukaku gets injured, hopefully January will see someone decent bought in, preferably on a permanent deal rather than another loan.

not sure about that mate, i think mr kenwright should keep that resting in his account incase of emergencies...we cant afford to be frivilous, altho i think mr kenwright should be allowed to spend a bit on doing his office up a bit

You can almost see the wheels turning in his head: "The fans will be saying and thinking Roberto wasted 6M on Kone...they'll understand when we dont give him the cash we've got over from the summer in January. As long as we finish top half, that'll do. We dont want the Europa League...that'd just complicate things".

^^ Almost certainly the case.

I really dont see how we get through the whole of the rest of this season by mending and making do. People like Deulofeu are way off being reliable performers.

This is a massive blow to a squad like ours.

We're supposed to be a club with ambition ffs

Lol, easy now!!

Like I said, I think we'll bring in a striker in the January window. Surely, bringing in 2 of the brightest attacking talents in Europe (on loan, yes) shows ambition? Also, whilst not big names wouldn't a first team opportunity for a youngster will only benefit the team in the long term, we may even unearth a new Barkley, Rooney ect. The players I mentioned are all internationals on a variety of levels and are more than capable of playing a role for a short spell given our formation and tendency to play one up front (heck, even the Straq showed that limited ability was enough when coupled with mega work-rate!)

Sometimes I think ambition has to be viewed with realism. Simply put we are doing very well with no money, a lack of squad depth and relying on youngsters and loan signings with potential to fill during times of injury and suspension. I would love to go out and sign any number of world class strikers on big money but not going to happen with our current financial handcuffs.

The players I have already mentioned will do a sterling job should the worst happen and Lukaku gets injured. In fact I think Mirallas and Delefalou in particular would really benefit from a spell up front, without so much defensive work to limit them.

Probably means rather than selling Jelavic in Jan and getting a replacement we'll keep him and get someone else in on loan to cover for Kone. Unfortunate.

could have just signed me for a tenner and paid me £100 a week and id have done the same job as him this season

I'd call McAleny up, ring Dave Whelan and tell him he can have Kone back for free if he gives us some tips to help with McAleny and his broken leg.

Hes gone from potentially world class to potentially match fit.

Its a shame really, I think he might have actually scored a goal this season, whos gonna miss all the sitters now?
