Kone

Most of the Wigan fans I've seen comment on him said he had the touch of a rapist & wasn't good enough for a top level PL side.

From what I have seen and what others (Wigan fans) have said he can be brilliant or average. each one of them said his strongest point was holding the ball up and bringing others into the attack. he might turn out great or he might turn out average, all i'm saying is it is a little silly to turn on a player even before you have seen him play properly.

I find it really unfair that a lot of people are already judging Kone as a bad signing when he's barely started any games.

I imagine a lot of the people who give him stick are the same ones who wrote off McCarthy as a bad player, because he was a Wigan player, despite the fact they'd probably never seen a Wigan game in full. All those people seem to have shut up now, maybe they should get behind Kone and give him some support in finding his feet at a new club, with new players he has to get used to playing with.

Martinez has earned our respect over his tactics, despite many doubters, myself included. We all owe him and any signings he makes our full support until it's beyond doubt they're not up to the standard we should look for.

ok can you find 10 posts that said McCarthy is a bad player?

i think people moaned about the price. so unless you can find them posts can we put that one to bed.

and imo konechebe is crap and always has been and always will be.

ffs he ended up at wigan in his prime years. defo a top class striker.

Without judging him based on what he's done for us so far (which hasn't been very good), i don't see Anichebe > Kone being a great deal. Think Anichebe can play a very similar role and he's 4 years younger. Their goalscoring last year wasn't much different and he can hold the ball up very well these days.

but yet they both went for the same price. but one is 4 years younger.

honest to god i cant wait to get vaulted about konechebe but i'm confident that i wont.

I think the logic is that Vic would have been third choice behind Lukaku and Jelavic for the lone striker role whereas Kone is more versatile. He can play between the lines and compliment a target man. Anichebe has played 187 minutes for West Brom and hasn't found the net yet. Maybe Martinez wanted a bit more experience and guile in his forward line too considering that Anichebe is 25, Lukaku is 20 and Vellios is 21.
