The problem for me is the players need to settle into a system, what he has done tonight is drop several 1st team players and then ask them to play a new system together for the first time as the named squad for tonight's match

We need to build on the second half performance at the weekend to establish continuity for the players and results going forward into next Monday.

The squad must feel like it,s some lab experiment eveytime he picks his team and formation.

FFS did the same team not play the same system against Stevenage

EFC XI to face Fulham: Robles, Gibson, Heitinga, Oviedo, Deulofeu, Naismith, Distin (C), McCarthy, Lukaku, Coleman, Stones.

It's difficult to read the line up. I'd imagine that Naismith will play behind Lukaku with Deulofeu on the left but it could be the other way around. I'd be surprised if he suddenly decided to go three at the back. I think Coleman might be pushed into midfield again to help protect young Stones. I'm going for:

______________Joel
__Stones Heitinga Distin Oviedo
Coleman Gibson McCarthy Deulofeu
________Naismith
_______________Lukaku

Near enough all of them are very close to the first team, so it's not as if we've put a second string out. Lots of interesting combinations to look at. If Naismith is playing in the hole it will be good to see how he works as a goal-getter rather than trying to make things happen from midfield.

I'm baffled - you moan when Moyes doesn't give youth a chance, and then moan when Martinez does.

The line up is spot on, a mixture of fringe players needing to prove a point and youth players getting valuable competitive experience. Anyone thinking we'd play a first team here are a bit mental.

Spot on Tubey - the attitude of the players on the fringe is crucial

Could easily be this mate:

--------------Joel-------------
------Stones Heitinga Distin
Coleman-----------------Oviedo
---------Gibson McCarthy------
Deulofeu----------------Naismith
-------------Lukaku------------

I reckon it'll be

Going to be hard to choose MOTM tonight.

Lukaku and Deulofeu obvious candidates. But I have a sneaky suspiscion that McCarthy will boss this.

It could be. I think if he was going to experiment with three at the back he'd do it when as many first-teamers as possible were involved to learn from it though. I don't think that Fulham will attack us enough to warrant three central defenders either.
