I see other threads are way off the mark so I thought I would get the ball rolling again.

Read between the lines. He is gagging to come to us. Even though he has not mentioned our club he is meaning us. I can tell. I know these things. A friend of a friend who has a dog that has once chased a cat that ate the mouse that chased a fly that was swallowed by an old woman that once [Poor language removed] in Moyes backyard told me.

Sky Sports | Football | News | Arshavin keen to exit Zenit

Its the classic scenario - we could get him, but if we got an offer accepted so would Barcelona, Madrid, etc...

...He would be in our team had Steve McClaren qualified England for the Euros...then Russia wouldnt have been in it.

Not for me, as soon as he heard other "bigger clubs" were interested he suddenly had always dreamed of playing for them. Mercenary in the M'Bia mould and would only use us as a stepping stone

I'd rather go for a younger player. We don't have the money to be buying players like Arshavin and Moutinho.

We should look for young cheap talent and develop them, that's the way forward.

The guy is a mercenary looking around world football for something better then what he's got at the moment.

He can do one.

Isn't that what football's about? Playing for the best team possible and improving? I think so.

Most good players would use us as stepping stones, that's just the way it is. What we could do is buy them, get 2 good years out of them and sell them on for a big price.

That or progress and match the players ambition.

Well yeah, but It should be about showing a bit of loyalty to the team that has gambled on a player. if the player fails the team has to take a considerable hit financially, if the player succeeds He'll bugger off anyway and the club still loses.

Young players that will show a bit of loyalty to the club that has developed them is what we should be aiming for not aging prima donnas like Arshavin.
