Has it all gone a bit wrong?

No mate, I won't. Don't appreciate silly negs and a threat of a ban for saying "Very child like". OTT IMO. Seen far worse and nothing done so a bit of consistency is called for.

Sure mate. Read 5,000 posts a day to make sure this free website suits what you think is acceptable. By all means, contact the site owner and make a complaint to customer services.

You will have read the disclaimer on from the Site owner the other day. This is being enforced. If we miss something then please use the report function to assist moderating the community.

Kicking off at me and Groucho will just justify a straight ban. Be cool man.

Was it you that threatened me with the comment in the neg? I am not kicking off I am trying to get a straight answer of how I was insulting with "very child like" resulting in a threat of a ban then an actual threat in the neg comment.

The vast majority of comments that are apparently "whinging/moaning/doom-mongering" are simply raising reasonable concerns that - and mark my words here - many of which will be proved very reasonable over the next 12 months.

What is annoying is how many posters are translating reasonable posts like: "I worry a bit about our ability to defend in the new system under Martinez" into "ERMAHGERD WE'RE GERDDIN RERLERGERTERD" to try and make a joke of their opinion as they, for some strange reason, want to live in a bubble of ignorant positivity. The fact is, our current situation isn't 100% rosy. I'm pretty sure no one's club is.

The whinging and gobsh*tery is often coming from those moaning about people moaning. In another thread someone's just posted that Martinez keeping Wigan up for three years and then getting them relegated in the fourth was the greatest achievement in the premier leagues recent history. I mean, f*cking hell. Really? Righty ho. It really is like reading RAWK when Kenny was in charge, in some pockets of the board.

I'm glad some posters are raising concerns as it's only natural as we've just had a manager who did a brilliant job here leave after 11 years and it's what separates us from the kopites of this world.

If I reckon we're going to concede a shed-load more goals than last year and fail to score enough due to us spending £5m and £50k a week on an average striker, I'm not going to pretend I don't. Ta, x.

Still, there is plenty to be positive about. RM has inherited a great group of lads here that will have no qualms about changing their playing style and are professional as they come. In that sense, it is a dream job to get. He's been given a great chance here and he's shown some promising signs. I'm sure he'll look to address any shortcomings the team has, like Moyes would have and will have his own shortcomings, like Moyes did.

Until we see some premier league games, however, everything is still relatively uneducated guesswork. Pre-season means next to nothing.

In the first highlight you begin all touchy, feely, Mr Reasonable I'm only putting forward a concern, then end up in pure finger wagging mode - "mark my words" - as though your thoughts are written in stone. Don't come the old soldier lad you kid no-one.

The second highlight I'm guessing misrepresents a post of mine about Wigan winning the FA cup - very different to what your statement reads - no need to tell lies lad.

Then you kill your own "mark my words" drama with the last highlight.

Pack in the BS.

...and he also slipped in the 'Moyes did a brilliant job' line...which is just his opinion, to which he's entitled. Its all relative.

I said mark my words "many" of the concerns raised will be proved reasonable over the next 12 months. Not all of them. I highly doubt Martinez will come in and address every single concern expressed on this board, don't you?

Or perhaps you don't, as you also think Martinez taking over an established, albeit poorly funded premier league side, keeping them up by the skin of their teeth for three years and subsequently getting them relegated (he oversaw 4 out their worst 5 premier league finishes, after succeeding the managerial geniuses of Jewell and Bruce) was "nothing short of a miracle". I don't think it's knocking Martinez to say that's completely incorrect. As for Wigan winning the FA cup being the greatest achievement in the history of the premier league, I really disagree there.

Although the above doesn't mean he will fail or he is failing, it means that, like it or not, people are going to have concerns about him. So they're going to post them on this everton forum. That's what I wanted to get at and if people could approach those posts with less aggression and piss-taking, we wouldn't end up with threads getting derailed etc.

No, I think that's more of a fact when you look at where we were when he took over mate. I think anyone would struggle to make an argument that turning us from regular relegation scrappers into european hopefuls and regular top 6 finishers and keeping that up over a huge period of time doesn't at least constitute a very good tenure for a manager.

If you glibly toss in "as you also think Martinez taking over an established, albeit poorly funded premier league side"

and walk away from it as inconsequential I'm damn sure you would.

I suggest you consider any manager handling the worst supported outfit in the division suffering the cheque book closure that kept them going along with selling his best players every year and reducing the wage bill by 24% and see what you come up with.

It won't be winning the FA cup will it?

Because when you really look at it with some perspective then give me something that betters it during the Prem years.

They were also the worst supported team when Jewell took them from the championship to the top half of the premier league with players like Damian Francis in the side. What was their wage bill when they came fresh out of the second tier and had been in the conference recently? Can't have been much.

Are you not reading?

Was Whelan spending then or not?

C'mon fella that's in the text, Martinez escapes were amazing under such constraints - have you come up with something to beat the FA cup win yet?
