Toby Alderweireld's agent Sören Lerby told Het Belang Van Limburg that Everton has interest in the player. Everton have told Ajax they are prepared to pay €6.9m.

Strong, great distribution, very intelligent, fairly quick. To be crude, he's like a white Vincent Kompany.

Would be a fantastic signing IMO.

They're different players. Alderweireld sures up the defence and distributes, Vertonghen is more cavalier. I'd say Alderweireld is the better pure defender but Vertonghen is more rounded, but we don't know till he arrives in the EPL and plays in a proper league.

I think for £6m it's a no brainer, especially if we can somehow get rid of Heitinga for a similar fee to some foolish club.
